The Top Fashion, Beauty, and Home Trends to Shop in 2024, from Comfortable Sneakers to Carpet Cleaners

And just like that, another year of shopping has come to an end — but with it comes tons of 2024 trends we can’t wait to start checking out.

We took to Google’s Holiday 100 Edit and spoke with Klarna’s fashion director, Emilia de Poret, to get the official scoop on what to buy in 2024 in fashion, home and beauty. Keep reading to find out what the experts recommend for the new year.

Cute and comfortable shoes

  • Steve Madden Vinetta shoes with rhinestones, HRK 99.95; stevemadden.com
  • dr. Scholl’s Time Off sneaker, $70 (originally $100); amazon.com
  • Birkenstock Arizona sandals, HRK 109.96; dsw.com
  • Ugg Tasman slippers, HRK 110; ugg.com
  • Vivaia ballet flats, HRK 97; vivaia.com

If there’s one thing we’re heading into 2024, it’s comfortable shoes, whether it’s flats, cute sneakers, or comfy boots. Gone are the days of high-arched heels as we trade in our heels for dressy ballerina flats, prioritizing comfort while keeping style at the fore.

According to Google’s Holiday 100 rankings, customers are looking for these comfortable (and cute!) Dr. shoes. Scholla, with searches for the Time Off Sneaker up over 5,000 percent this year. Others searched for celebrity-loved Ugg Tasman slippers, which grew by nearly 900 percent on Google.

Flats stole the show in 2023, and we don’t expect this cozy style to slow down in the new year. “The Alaïa flat in mesh or with embellishments is still the most sought-after, although the high street has its more affordable versions,” according to de Poret. We’ve found a cheaper version of bejeweled shoes in these Steve Madden Vinetta shoes, which come in black and feature rhinestone studs adorning the faux leather upper.

Nothing feels like a reset like deep cleaning, which is why it’s no surprise that searches for cleaning products have skyrocketed in anticipation of 2024. The term “home deep cleaning checklist” grew 140 percent according to Google Trends, meaning shoppers want to get started new year from a clean slate — a job that this recently introduced Dyson wet and dry vacuum cleaner couldn’t be better at.

In addition, carpet cleaners were among the top-selling items purchased by PEOPLE readers on Black Friday this year, proving that shoppers want to go below the surface level to get the best cleaning.

This Lagigo scrubber comes with four replaceable brush heads, plus a retractable extension bar for hard-to-reach areas. It’s even $32 off right now thanks to a coupon in the product description.

We are happy to say that skincare-infused cosmetics are here to stay and could take on an even bigger role this year than last year. De Poret expects excitement around Hailey Bieber Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment in the new year, especially if she releases another limited-edition shade like Strawberry Glaze. And it’s no surprise that peptide bronzers like Drunk Elephant drops are trending on Google as our skin turns paler this winter.

De Poret also highlights the Hourglass Veil Hydrating Skin Tint, as its moisture-rich formula does double duty as a daily moisturizer and skin perfecter. “It’s a lightweight formula with light coverage that boosts the skin’s moisture level,” says the Klarna director. “It looks natural and gives your skin a healthy glow.”
