Sita Soren was an Indian politician. She is a member of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha. In 2019, she became a member of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly for the third time. She was the daughter-in-law of Shibu Soren, the chief of Mukti Morcha of Jharkhand, and the wife of Durga Soren. She is also the national general secretary of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha.

In 2009, after the death of her husband Durga Soren, Sita contested the 2009 Jharkhand Legislative Assembly elections from Jama constituency. She won the election by 12,706 votes. In the same year, she was also appointed as the national secretary of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha.
In 2014, she ran for the same seat again and won by 2,306 votes. In 209, she contested the Legislative Assembly elections for the third time in Jharkhand’s Jama constituency and defeated Suresh Murmu of the BJP by a margin of 2,426 votes. In 2021, Sita founded an NGO along with her daughters Rajshree and Vijayshree in memory of her husband Durga Soren Sena. She quit the JMM and joined the BJP ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

In 2012, Sita Soren was accused of accepting bribes to vote for a particular candidate in the 2012 Lok Sabha elections and a case for the same had been filed against her in the Jharkhand High Court. In 2014, Sita Soren moved the High Court to dismiss the criminal proceedings filed against her, claiming that she had immunity under Article 194(2) of the Constitution; however, her request was rejected. In 2014, during the CBI investigation, Sita kidnapped her assistant when he was an approver and was later recovered from her residence, which led to a kidnapping case being registered against her. In February 2014, she was sentenced to prison.
On March 28, 2014, she successfully obtained regular bail from the Supreme Court in the case. On September 11, 2014, she was released on bail. The case was subsequently appealed to the Supreme Court.

- Sita Soren has always been in the headlines for her derogatory remarks and accusations against her family members, including Hemant Soren. Sita Soren led the rift among ruling alliance MLAs after Hemant Soren was arrested by ED in January 2024, with senior MLAs reportedly in Raanchi ) held a meeting to get Kalpana Soren, wife of Hemant Soren as the next Jharkhand minister; however, despite being an MLA of the party, Sita and some other MLAs did not attend the meeting in protest. She spoke about the incident in an interview and claimed that she was more deserving of the chief ministership than Kalpana. She said,
I would like to ask, with so many senior leaders in the party, why is it that only Kalpana Soren, who is not even a member of Parliament and has no political experience, is touted as the next chief minister? I will strongly protest any move to make her CM. There are several senior leaders within the party who could be given power. If they want to elect from a family, I’m the eldest and have been an MLA for about 14 years. ”
