Sithara Nair was born on Saturday, June 30, 1973 in Kilimanoor, Kerala, India (50 years old as of 2023). She completed her schooling from Lourdes Hill School, Vattapara, Thiruvananthapuram. She made her debut in the Malayalam film industry in 1986 with Rajeevnath’s directorial Kaveri, starring Mammootty and Mohanlal, while pursuing her pre-university degree from Sree Sankara Vidyapetom College in Kilimanoor.

She played the female lead in the comedy film Mazhavilkavadi (1989) directed by Sathyan Anthikad.
