Sketch of Suspect in Rachel Morin’s Murder Released 6 Months After Mom of 5 Was Killed on Hiking Trail

Police in Maryland have released a sketch of the suspect they believe killed Rachel Morin — a mother of five who was found dead after she went missing in August — according to authorities.

The Harford County Sheriff’s Office in Bel Air, Md., shared two photos of the sketch Monday morning.

Morin, 37, was reported missing Aug. 5 by her boyfriend, who said she went jogging on the Ma & Pa Trail in Bel Air, Md., but never returned, PEOPLE reported at the time. Morin was found dead the next day when a volunteer who joined the search party discovered her along the trail.

Harford County Sheriff Jeffery Gahler said in a press conference at the time that there are many “indicators” that leave “no doubt” that Morin was killed, PEOPLE previously reported. “Unfortunately, this is a homicide case,” the sheriff said.

Shortly after, the Harford County Sheriff’s Office released surveillance video on social media of the suspect, who was seen leaving the home after a home invasion in Los Angeles, California. The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed later that month that “DNA obtained in the Rachel Morin murder matches the murder of the suspect identified in the March 26, 2023 residential burglary and assault.”

In a statement Monday, Harford police said authorities believe the suspect may have been in the area several days before Morin’s murder.
