SM Entertainment Has Introduced An Immersive Metaverse To The K-pop Industry

SM Entertainment has contributed unique ideas to the K-pop business, from a group with “unlimited” members to AI characters as part of the group and the creation of the KWANGYA metaverse. Now he has set about developing his metaverse by building a studio fully dedicated to all of it, while solidifying his position in the development of the metaverse. On July 12, the agency announced the official establishment of STUDIO KWANGYA, a company for the technological production of the metaverse. It has several departments such as VFX Production, Virtual Human, Virtual Studio, VR Production, etc. Having explored the SMCU (SM Culture Universe) in depth, the agency has ensured that all SM artists are included. The newly formed studio would give the agency greater autonomy over its VR and SMCU initiatives.

KWANGYA becomes a reality with the opening of a multipurpose VR studio named after him by SM Entertainment.

The K-pop business is rapidly embracing the idea of ​​offering more than simple music, but a broader narrative that is carefully woven into its releases. SM Entertainment is one of several that helped launch it and, in doing so, established a complete metaverse of all its artists. The agency has just announced the official inauguration of KWANGYA STUDIES on July 12. It is a studio mainly dedicated to SMCU related materials.

Furthermore, the agency collaborated with the virtual concert platform Amaze VR. They introduced a collaboration company called Studio A, which is believed to be the beginning of the Kwangya universe.

According to Korea Joongang Daily, Amaze VR Co-CEO Seung-joon said,

“The creation of Studio A will result in major VR concerts for world-class artists that the public has never seen before.”

He also intends to launch immersive and fun VR concerts around the world. Meanwhile, SM Entertainment’s Lee Sung-soo and Tak Young-joon provided additional information on the studio’s history and values.

“SMCU is a concept that bridges the virtual and real worlds and embraces the unique stories and worldviews of each artist.” And the world encompasses the identity of each artist as well as the place that transcends it. It also symbolizes a new universe where they live together without borders. Studio Kwangya was founded to generate unique metaversal content based on culture technology.”

The studio will also house SM Entertainment’s hybrid content project, CAWMAN. The Agency protected the term CAWMAN last year. Cartoon, Animation, Web Cartoon, Motion Graphic, Avatar and Novels are all abbreviations.

Lee Soo-man, the founder of SM Entertainment, said in an interview that he wants South Korea to be a leader in the metaverse world.
