Snoop Dogg Opens Up About Being a Grandpa, Reveals the Sweet Name His Grandkids Call Him: ‘Love Them All’

Snoop Dogg may have changed his name over the years, but there’s one title he’ll never shake – Grandpa.

While appearing in the episode Show Jennifer Hudson, the 52-year-old rapper talked to host Jennifer Hudson about his grandchildren, revealing what a sweet name they call him. Snoop is the father of sons Cordell (26), Corde (29) and Julian (25) and daughter Cori (24).

“Okay, I was trying to imagine Snoop as a grandpa. So how many grandkids do you actually have?” – asks Jennifer Hudson.

“Actually, I have a total of 12 grandchildren,” he replies. “12?” Hudson asks incredulously.

“Yes, yes, I do. And they’re different ages, ranges, sizes and I love them all the same. In fact, it’s my oldest grandson’s birthday today so I’m on my way to his birthday party when I go here.”

“He’s going to be 9, that’s Zion Broadus,” Snoop says.

“That’s wonderful. What are your grandchildren’s names?” Hudson asks.

“Well, he called me first. He called me Papa Noop, because he couldn’t say Snoop, so he started calling me Papa Noop. And then as time went on, he learned how to say Snoop, so now I’m Papa Snoop.”

In June, the rapper opened up about his grandchildren in an exclusive clip he shared with PEOPLE from Words + music: From streets to apartments.

“I’m a grandfather of six, with one on the way. And my grandchildren are everything to me because they all individually get a piece of my heart and they’re different,” he said in the video. “My oldest grandson Zion told me he was the biggest star in the family. He took my Snoop Loopz box and put his little cover on the front and made his own cereal.”

“And then my granddaughter CC (Journey), she plays tennis, she loves her dad. She sees me in the grocery store in my Corona ads and whatnot… [she says], ‘Daddy!’ It means everything in the world to me that they call me that because I had a dad.”

He added: “My grandfather was my best friend and the fact that I was that to my grandchildren shows that I actually did well and managed to survive the circumstances. Now I can look back – I can teach those who want to get to this level. Or at least give them a blueprint and help them avoid some of the pitfalls they’ve had to deal with.”
