Snoop Dogg Says Daughter Cori Broadus is ‘Doing a Little Bit Better’ After Stroke (Exclusive)

Snoop Dogg shares an update on his daughter Cori Broadus’ health following her recent stroke.

The 52-year-old rapper opened up to PEOPLE about his 24-year-old daughter’s recovery from a massive stroke on Jan. 18 at the film’s Los Angeles premiere Underdogs Tuesday.

“She’s doing a little bit better,” Snoop told PEOPLE in an exclusive chat at the premiere.

When asked if his daughter’s health scare put life in perspective for him, Snoop — who shares daughter Broadus with wife Shanté — replied, “Yeah, yeah. Something like that.”

Snoop Dogg’s daughter Cori Broadus says her ‘kidneys were horrible’ after stroke: ‘It’s gotten so much better’

The rapper’s update comes while Broadus is still in the hospital after suffering a stroke last week. However, on Tuesday, Broadus shared in her medical report that it was “probable” she would be able to return home within the next 24 hours.

“They took me off the heaprin (a blood thinner) tonight and I can most likely go home tomorrow🤞🏾🥲,” she wrote in one post from her hospital bed. The 24-year-old revealed her health scare last Thursday when she posted a photo of herself in hospital on her Instagram Story. “I had a severe stroke and I started to cry when they told me,” she wrote. “Like I’m only 24, what have I done in the past to deserve all this.”

Broadus also shared further updates on Tuesday, including informing her followers that she was on her way for a CT scan of her chest “to see exactly what caused my stroke.” In a Boomerang video she shared on her Instagram Story, Broadus can be seen being led through the hospital door in her bed.

Meanwhile, in another video, Broadus zoomed in on a collection of flowers she received from loved ones on a nearby cabinet and wrote, “Thank you thank you,” adding a teary-eyed emoji. “When I come out, I myself will share everything in detail fr,” she promised.

Broadus shared in a previous health report over the weekend that her “kidneys were terrible” at the time of the stroke, though they were “improving a lot,” according to doctors. “You hear me, God is working overtime!” she wrote over a picture of herself in a hospital gown.

The 24-year-old’s latest health scare comes amid a long-term battle with lupus after being diagnosed with the autoimmune disease at the age of 6.

In September 2023, Broadus spoke to PEOPLE about taking a holistic approach to her health in hopes of leading a better lifestyle after her difficult journey and suicide attempt in 2021.

“I was good, better than ever,” she said. “I stopped taking all my medication about five months ago. I only do everything natural, all kinds of herbs, sea mosses, teas. I started exercising, drinking a lot of water. Now I think my body is saying, OK, this is a new program and she’s getting used to it.”

Broadus said at the time that the medication she was taking previously made her “feel like I was going crazy,” causing her to “chill out.” Of the benefits she has discovered so far, she said her body “doesn’t hurt anymore,” which is a common symptom of lupus.

However, she added that it is “a continuous learning process because there is so much more I could do.”
