Mirrors, mirrors on the wall, which is the most beautiful Disney movie of all?
After a series of live-action adaptations of beloved animated films in recent years, Disney is now bringing the first Disney princess, Snow White, to life with an upcoming film starring Rachel Zegler.
Plans for the remake were first announced back in 2016, and Zegler was cast in the lead role in June 2021, ahead of her film debut in A story from the west side.
“Rachel’s extraordinary vocal abilities are just the beginning of her gifts. Her strength, intelligence and optimism will become integral to the rediscovery of joy in this classic Disney fairy tale,” director Marc Webb said of Zegler’s casting in a statement obtained by PEOPLE.
In August 2024, at D23, Disney premiered the first Snow White trailer and confirmed that the film will be released in March 2025.

Along with Zegler as Snow White, Gal Gadot is set to play the Evil Queen in the remake. “I’m so excited and can’t wait to step into the shoes and crown of the Evil Queen,” Gadot told PEOPLE in November 2021.
Additionally, Pirates of the Caribbean actor Martin Klebba stars as Grumpy, and Tony winner Andrew Burnap stars as “a new male character created for the film [who] will sing”, trans The Hollywood Reporter.

The adaptation of the script is signed by Greta Gerwig (Barbie) and Erin Cressida Wilson (The girl on the train), according to the deadline.

Per THRthe new film will “expand the story and music from the beloved animated classic.” The new songs are signed by the Oscar- and Tony-winning duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. The two are best known for writing lyrics for La La Land as well as writing music and lyrics for their musical Dear Evan Hansen.
When is it Snow White live action movie?
Principal photography began in March 2022, and the first look at Zegler in costume as Snow White on set was released that May. On July 13, 2022, Zegler took to Twitter to they discover that filming has ended as she posted a collection of emojis before adding the following tweet, “the love this movie brought me is magical.”

In October 2023, Disney shared a first look at the film, which shows Zegler in character surrounded by Dopey, Grumpy, Sneezy, Shy, Happy, Sleepy and Doc.
Almost a year later, in August 2024, Disney released the first trailer for the film at D23. “Disney invites you to return to the story that started it all,” they wrote on Instagram.

During Disney’s D23 Expo 2022 presentation, Gadot and Zegler shared the stage to reveal that their film will be released in 2024.
However, in October 2023, Disney announced that the release date had been moved from March 22, 2024 to March 21, 2025.
