Sofia Richie shares a special memory!
On Sunday, the 25-year-old posted a video on TikTok capturing the emotional moment she and husband Elliot Grainge – and the family dog - found out their baby was on the way as a girl.
In the video, Richie was standing next to Grainge, 30, in their yard. “Ready?” she asked her husband who was holding a confetti spatula.
Richie then counted down from three for Grainge, who released the popper, sending pink smoke and confetti into the air. Richie’s immediate reaction was to scream at the top of his voice and run excitedly around the yard.
Her scream, plus the noise from the popper, startled her golden retriever, who moved from his spot watching the festivities to the grass closer to the couple.
“Sorry to all my neighbors for the horrible scream 😅,” Richie joked in the video’s caption.

After Richie calmed down, she moved closer to Grainge, whose reaction to learning she was having a daughter was to stand still with a hand over her mouth.
“I’m so excited!” Ritchie said and hugged her husband tightly.
When Richie first revealed her pregnancy in Vogue in an interview published Thursday, she addressed the moment seen in Sunday’s TikTok video.
“I love YouTubes and TikToks — even before I was pregnant — of gender reveals, so our OB texted my assistant Becca [our baby’s gender]and we bought two party poppers: one blue, one pink,” she said.
“She left out the one with the matching color inside and Elliot and I threw it out together. We both really thought it was a boy, so it was quite a shock. My dream in life is to have a daughter [though]and Elliot is very excited about the girl.”

Richie, who is the youngest daughter of singer Lionel Richie, said her husband is just as excited to have a baby girl. She called Grainge, who is the son of Universal Music Group chairman and CEO Lucian Grainge, “sensitive.”
“I think it’s typical for boys to want boys, but he has a lot of sisters,” she said.
Richie and Grange were married in April 2023.
