Soham Shah (also written as Sohum Shah) is an Indian actor, producer and entrepreneur, known for his roles in the films Ship of Theseus (2015) and Tumba Known for his work in Tumbbad (2018).

Soham Shah made his acting debut in the 2009 film “Babarr”, playing the lead role of “Babarr Qureshi”. Although his first film failed at the box office, he continued to work hard and make a name for himself in the film industry.
Soon, Soham started his own production company ‘Recyclewala Films’ to create content-driven films.

His breakthrough came in Ship of Theseus (2012), a critically acclaimed film in which he played a stockbroker.
He then starred in the film Talvar (2015) directed by Meghna Gulzar. Soham was appreciated for his role as a cop in the film.

After “Talvar”, he played the role of “Sameer”, Kangana Ranaut’s love interest, in “Simran” (2017) directed by Hansal Mehta.

Tumbbad (2018) is Soham’s critically acclaimed film so far. The film is rife with superlatives such as “must see” and “extensively original film.” The film is considered a horror fantasy, a treasure hunt, an emotional father-son drama, and a cautionary tale about the consequences of endless greed. The film went on to win many prestigious awards.

- His father was a commodities broker. As a teenager, Sohum assisted his father in a small town in Sri Ganga Nagar. Recalling that time, Soham said –
My father was a commodities broker and I started working with him early on. This was the pre-cell phone era. I used to take down his message on the landline. My voice was very shrill and people thought I was a girl and they used to say to my father – Apne dukaan pe koi ladki rakhi hui hai, kaam karne ke liye. “

I saw Shah Rukh Khan in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and I was blown away. It’s a combination of a lot of things – the leather jacket, his travels in Europe, drinking canned beer, and the way he charms everyone in the film, even Babuji. “

- Being a huge fan of SRK and his film “DDLJ”, he went to Mumbai’s Maratha Mandir alone to watch “DDlJ” when the movie completed more than 1000 weeks in theaters.

- His fascination with movies and movie stars was so high that he forced his brother to buy him a pair of jeans after watching Salman Khan dance in the song Oh Oh Jane Jaana.
- His passion for movies got to the point where he wanted to move to Mumbai and become an actor. But before embarking on an acting career, he wanted to keep his family and himself financially stable. So, he founded a real estate company. Talking about his real estate business, Soham said-
My real estate business is my bread and butter. And, I make movies just because I have that support. I am from a small town in Rajasthan (Sri Ganganagar) and my father is a commodity broker earning Rs. 3000 a month. I started working with him when I was 15-16 years old. I started my own real estate business. After I established a certain financial foundation, I began to try my luck in movies. Regardless, moving to a big city like Mumbai is very difficult. It would be foolish to do this without financial stability. “

- Once his affairs were settled, Soham left for Bombay. When he gets there, Soham finds that everything in the city works differently, too fast. Recalling the days when he first arrived in this city, he said——
I was taken aback by the sheer number of people. Everyone is always in a hurry. I didn’t even dare order a cup of coffee. I miss my family…I miss the simplicity of home. But here was a race and I realized I had to run too. “
- While in Mumbai, he attended several acting workshops and got in touch with a family friend, who helped Soham connect with people in the film industry. After several auditions and rejections, he finally got his debut film, Babarr.
