Warning: Contains spoilers for Sonic the Hedgehog: Scrapnik Island #1!skapnik island – A new series with a horror twist – Sonic the Hedgehog and Miles “Tails” Prowl switch places, and Blue Blur relies on his mechanical allies for the first time. Due to a new injury (which oddly echoes events in the series’ main comics), Sonic’s main power is gone just when he needs it most.
In the main IDW series, Sonic and several of his comrades (including Tails) crash-land in a stolen plane while trying to escape Dr. Eggman’s city of Egperil. Sonic broke his leg in the accident, forcing him to rely on Tails, who carried him through the Badnik-infested city. Since Sonic was unable to fight effectively, Tails was naturally assigned to fight for him, but unfortunately for fans of the Flying Fox, other characters took the role instead.
Oddly enough, Sonic and Tails find themselves in the same situation Sonic the Hedgehog: Scrapnik Island #1 Created by writer Daniel Barnes, artist Jack Lawrence, colorist Nathalie Fourdraine, and letterer Shawn Lee. When their plane is struck by lightning, the two crash-land on the eponymous island, and when Sonic wakes up, the hedgehog learns that the island’s reformed residents, Badnix, have braced his feet because His foot was severely damaged in the crash. Even with support, Sonic still can’t rely entirely on his speed and must resort to other means to evade the Badniks he originally thought were attacking him.
Scrapnik Island is Tails’ second chance
Of course, Tails never had to come to Sonic’s rescue because Badnik didn’t actually try to hurt him. But by the end of the first issue, it’s hinted that there are other Badniks who aren’t so friendly. With Sonic’s speed compromised, this could force Tails into the spotlight to protect him from these evil badniks. For those of you who are also reading the main IDW series, recent developments skapnik island It certainly reminds them of issue 52, where Blue Blur suffered a similar injury in almost the same way. Although Tails’ first chance to rescue Sonic was seized by other allies, skapnik island Seeing Sonic and Tails alone gives Tails more chances to take the initiative.
Despite being an iconic hero Sonic IDW’s comics don’t give Tails much of a chance compared to canon – which isn’t always the case in comic adaptations of the series. Tails’ most significant recent achievement is saving the Fatal Six with Sonic’s help. hope, skapnik island would buck that trend, allowing Tails to shine as a hero, while Sonic takes on a long overdue supporting role.
