Sonu Sood was born on Monday, July 30, 1973, in Moga, Punjab (50 years; as of 2023). His zodiac sign is Leo.
He was educated at Sacred Heart School, Moga.
After completing 10th standard, Sonu worked briefly at his father’s showroom in Moga, where he learned to identify different fabrics and learned how to sell them. Thereafter, he went to Nagpur to study electronic engineering at Yeshwantrao Chavan Engineering College. Sood excelled in academics during his school days and college days. When he was a sophomore in college, his friends encouraged him to pursue modeling and acting.
After graduation, Sood went to Mumbai and started taking modeling assignments.
During his initial years in Mumbai, Sood worked in a private company in south Mumbai to meet his daily expenses. Before becoming an actor, he also participated in the Mr. Grasim India contest and finished in the top five.

Sonu Sood started his acting career in 1999 with the role of “Soumya Narayanan” in the Tamil film “Kallazhagar”. Next, he played the villain in the Telugu film “Hands Up!” He made his Bollywood debut in 2002 in the Bollywood film Shaheed-E-Azam, where he played the role of ‘Bhagat Singh’. He came into limelight after playing Abhishek Bachchan’s brother in the Bollywood film “Yuva”.

In 2013, film producer Sheetal Talwar filed a fraud case against Sonu Sood for renting out a property on Yari Road to him , and claimed that there was no legal dispute over the land, but this was not the case.

Sonu is once again making headlines for her role in the film Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi. Kangana Ranaut claimed that Sood quit the film as he was not ready to shoot under a female director. Sonu, however, clarified that the issue was not the gender of the director but the ability. He issued an official statement saying,
Kangana is a dear friend and she will always be a dear friend, but this constant effort to play the woman card, the victim card, and make the entire issue about male chauvinism is ridiculous. Convert residential building into hotel
In January 2021, the BMC (Mumbai Municipal Corporation) filed a complaint against the actor for converting a six-storey building in Juhu, Mumbai into a hotel. Sonu Sood reportedly used the building as a quarantine facility for medical professionals during the initial days of the country’s coronavirus lockdown.
Income tax raids and tax evasion
On September 16, 2021, the Income Tax department raided multiple establishments associated with the actor, including Mumbai, Nagpur and Jaipur. According to officials, a real estate deal and several other financial transactions related to the actor are under the scanner of the department. Days later, the actor was accused of evading Rs. The Central Excise Department has allocated Rs 20 crore.
