Sony Pictures praises Blake Lively’s “passion and commitment to advancing the conversation about domestic violence” s It ends with us amid some of the backlash she received for her promotion of the drama.
Lively, who co-produced and stars in the film as florist and domestic violence survivor Lily Bloom, has been criticized online for what some say is a “tone-deaf” approach to promoting the film, which surrounds serious themes.
“I’m so confused. You missed the whole point of the movie. I’m sad and disappointed,” read one comment on the recently released “Girl Talk” promotional video that Lively, 36, posted on her Instagram, where she chats with Hoover, 44, plus actresses Jenny Slate and Isabela Ferrer.
On Wednesday, August 14, Sony Pictures Entertainment CEO Tony Vinciquerra praised Lively, saying The Hollywood Reporter in a statement, “Blake’s passion and commitment to advancing the conversation about domestic violence is commendable. We love working with Blake and want to make 12 more films with her.”

Based on the 2016 bestseller by Colleen Hoover. It ends with us debuted in theaters with $50 million in its first weekend at the domestic box office. While it currently has a 57% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, its audience rating is much higher at 93%.

On her Instagram stories on Tuesday, August 13, Lively thanked her fans for their support It ends with us and the film’s “important” messages, as well as sharing a clip of herself talking about the film’s themes on the red carpet at the London premiere.
She also published resources for survivors of domestic violence, sharing the CDC statistic that one in four adult women has experienced physical violence from an intimate partner in her lifetime. He wrote Gossip Girl Alum, “Intimate partner violence affects all genders, including more than 12 million people each year in the United States.”

“Everyone deserves relationships free of domestic violence. The National Domestic Violence Hotline provides confidential support 24/7/365,” Lively continued in the post, adding a link to the hotline, plus: “For emergency help, text “START” to 88788 . ”
The Simple service The actress also drew criticism for comments she made in a recent chat for Jake’s Takeswhere interviewer Jake Hamilton asked her what would be the best way for fans to talk to her about topics in the It ends with us when they approached her in public.
“For example, asking for my address, or my phone number, or, for example, sharing a location?” she joked. “I’d just share the location and then we could [talk]. I’m a Virgo, so like, are we talking logistics, are we talking emotionally?”
But seriously, Lively continued: “What’s nice about this movie is that, unfortunately, we all know at least [one person] WHO [has] experienced this.”
“And the beauty of it was seeing people, and seeing this movie with women who hadn’t experienced it — thank God — say, ‘Wow, I fell in love, too. I saw red flags, but they didn’t look red; they looked kind of purple. and sweet, but I ignored them,’ she added.

Lively has been embroiled in recent reports of falling out with Baldoni, 40, which reportedly also extends to most of the main cast.
Notably, the director was largely absent from the group’s promotional appearances, including the premiere in New York, where he did not pose with his co-stars or introduce the film before the screening. In addition, Lively, Hoover, Slate (42), Ferrer (24) and Sklenar (34) no longer follow Baldoni on Instagram.
There were also reports of creative conflicts behind the scenes, which allegedly led to two different versions of the film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
“All is not as it seems,” a source told PEOPLE of the rift. “There is much more to this story. The main actors and Colleen Hoover will have nothing to do with him.”
Baldoni has since hired crisis PR manager Melissa Nathan of The Agency Group amid reports of his alleged on-set behavior.
