Sophia Bush Says Getting to 'Kiss a Pretty Woman' on Grey's Anatomy Just like Her BFF Hilarie Burton Did Is 'Fun Voodoo'

Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton are truly two peas in a pod, so much so that even their on-screen stories begin to mirror each other.

Bush, 42, who just put her scrubs back on and joined in Grey’s Anatomy, stopped by Jessica Capshaw and Camille Luddington’s podcast, Call it what it ison Dec. 4, and the conversation quickly turned into a love fest for Burton, 42, who also starred on the show more than a decade ago.

Calling it a “smoke show”, Capshaw described Burton, with whom she had “a bit of sex”, as “one of the nicest people on the planet” as she recalled working with her during Season 9 in 2013.

“She came to Grey’sand she knew she was playing someone who was going to upset the apple cart. And… I imagined that most people would come in kind of, like, on tenterhooks and say, ooh, I’m going to come in and play this role. And she wasn’t. She was, like, bold, smart and sassy. And she just took over.”

Luddington, 40, then asked if Burton had given Bush any advice before she did Grey’s debuted last month, as Bush’s character, Dr. Cass Beckman similarly came to the series “mix some s— things”.

“I mean, gosh. I remember we were talking about it at the time because we were so excited that she was going to be on the show because we loved that show when we were doing it. [One Tree Hill]”, Bush recalled. Grey’s also?'”

“And that feels good,” she continued. “It’s like… it’s a very close energy for us, and it’s a great feeling.”

Bush made her debut as Dr. Cass Beckman in the Nov. 7 episode — and she stirred things up when she kissed Teddy (Kim Raver) during a night out amid Teddy’s ongoing feud with Owen (Kevin McKidd).

As she considered joining the iconic show, she told Capshaw and Luddington that she was impressed by how “professional, well-oiled and respectful, smart and bold” the atmosphere was.

“I walked on set and was like, what the hell. 21 seasons, everybody’s on time. Everybody’s excited. Everybody cares about everybody. People are exchanging pictures of the kids and making sure people have what they need, and everybody shows up for the table read and they give her absolutely everything.”

“I thought, oh, female-led sets are just different. In the best way,” she continued. “And I’m having the most fun. So thank you for having me.”
