More than a decade after One Tree Hill Finally, Sophia Bush and Robert Buckley have some thoughts on how their characters’ personal styles have evolved since 2012.
In the latest episode of their rewatch podcast Drama queensco-hosts took a break from recapping episodes of the series to answer questions from listeners. with One Tree Hill reboot in the works that reportedly focuses on the original characters 20 years later, one fan wanted to know how Bush thought her character, high school cheerleader-turned-fashion entrepreneur Brooke, would dress today compared to her personal style during the show’s original run from 2003 to 2012.

“There was a lot of bad fashion in the early moments, friends,” Bush admitted. “Like, a lot. I think it kind of got better as time went on and then I don’t know. There are other things that I see as we’re watching right now, like the middle of season 7 where I’m like, ‘Oh, that was a heavy outfit.’ ”
Oddly, given that Brooke owned a fashion business on the show, Bush said she hadn’t put much thought into her character’s style until now. “I’ve been thinking so much about, you know, for her and for the rest of us, as we do in adulthood, what motivates us, how our families are,” she explained. “I think because we’re not at the finish line yet, I haven’t thought about any of the, like, exciting details,” she added of the reboot.
“I want a power suit,” she continued. “Maybe wear some suits so I can wear more suits.”

As for Buckley’s character, sports agent Clay Evans, who joined the show during the seventh season, Bush said he was “obviously smartly dressed” in the original series.
“I still don’t know why they made you shoot so many scenes of you walking down the beach in a full body suit and beautiful patent leather loafers,” she joked. “But, you know, 10 years in the future, what do you think [Clay’s] style would be? Like, are you still in your nice pants? Were you completely relaxed?”
“I think two opposite things happened,” Buckley said. “First, he got married — Well, spoiler alert fans, sorry, he got married — and I can say from personal experience, I once had [wife Jenny Wade] in my life, my fashion became much better because she said, ‘Every day you wear two of the same shirts and two pairs of jeans. We’re actually going to add colors and different things.’ ”

Buckley suggested that his character will likely get a similar wardrobe upgrade courtesy of wife Quinn (Shantel VanSanten). “I think he’ll dress better,” he continued. “However, he got married and locked it up, which means he’s all comfortable. So he’s probably got a pair of Crocs, some sweatpants where he’s almost punctured, you know? Because he’s not trying to impress anyone.”
Still, Buckley said: “I’d like to see him dress up though because just selfishly, like, come on, guys. Put me in sharp suits.”
