One of the best things about Spotify is its endless social features, and with the help of a third-party site called “Obscurify,” you can get an obscure rating on how niche/mainstream your listening habits are. When it comes to third-party integrations, one of Spotify’s neat tricks comes from a website called “Obscurify.” Founded in 2020 by Alex Olivero and Nirmal Patel, Obscurify is a third-party website that analyzes your Spotify playlists, sees the songs added to them, and gives you an Obscurity rating that shows how obscure your music selections are. /Basic.
How to Find Your Spotify Obscurity Rating
To find your own Spotify fuzziness rating, simply visit the Obscurify website from your phone, tablet, or computer. Tap/click the green “Sign in with Spotify” button on the website, log in using your Spotify account credentials, and then select the green “Agree” button to associate your Spotify account with Obscurify. In less than a second, the Obscurify website updates with insights about your music preferences.
Obscurify starts by showing users their top 10 favorite genres. Clicking/clicking on a genre will reveal the three artists most responsible for it. For example, pop ranks as my fifth music genre, thanks to my constant listening to Ashe, X Ambassadors, and The 1975. As you scroll down the page, Obscurify shows users their most obscure artists and tracks. If you listen to artists or songs that are not mainstream or too popular, you will see them here.
Just below that, Obscurify also shows users their top artists and songs of all time. The page initially displays your top 12 artists/songs, but you can select the “Show more” button to view up to 50 of your top picks. The section below has a “Share with Friends” button that allows you to share your Obscurify profile on social media. At the bottom of the page are Obscruify’s music recommendations based on your musical taste. this is all!
