Shanthakumaran Sreesanth is one of the most attacking cricketers on the field. He started out as a leg-spinner and turned into a mainstream fast bowler overnight. Sreesanth was born on February 6, 1983 in Kothamangalam, Kerala. When he was in eighth grade, he won a dance competition. After grade 11, he left school to focus on cricket. He passed 11th standard from Elamakara Bhavans Vidya Mandir, Kochi. During his childhood, he was a leg-spinner. He once imitated the moves of Indian bowling ace Anil Kumble. He considers Anil Kumble as his role model. His elder brother encouraged him to become a fast bowler due to his ability to bowl lethal yorkers. Later, he became one of the leading fast bowlers in the country and on the national circuit.

His father Santhakumaran Nair is a retired insurance officer and his mother Savitri Devi is a retired state government civil servant. He has three siblings: brother Dipu Santhan and two sisters Nivedita and Divya. His brother Dipu Sanathan is the owner of a music company in Kochi. His eldest sister Nivedita is a TV actress from Kerala and his younger sister is married to Madhu Balakrishnan, a famous South Indian playback singer.
Sreesanth married his girlfriend Bhuvneshwari Kumari on December 12, 2013, at the Guruvayur Sri Krishna temple in Kerala. Her wife is from Jaipuri Shekhawat family.
The couple gave birth to a daughter, Sree Sanvika Sreesanth, on July 27, 2015. His son Suryasree Sreesanth was born on November 23, 2016.

In the Challenger Trophy, he was awarded the Player of the Series award, for which he was selected for the national team for the 2005 ODI series against Sri Lanka. In a career that spanned six years, he took 87 Test wickets, 75 ODI wickets and 7 T20 wickets.
He played for Kings XI Punjab from 2008 to 2010 and from 2011 to Kerala Kochi Tuskers until 2013, after which he was selected for Rajasthan Royals. He played 44 games in the IPL and took 40 wickets.

The complainant claimed that Sreesanth, along with Rajiv Kumar and Venkatesh Kini, cheated him three times since April 25, 2019, out of a total amount of Rs 1.87 crore. However, Sreesanth later clarified the matter to X and clarified that he had no contact with the other accused and was not involved in any transaction.
