In the 1990s, while working on a modeling shoot, she met David Lasnet, who was working as an assistant photographer in New York. They became friends and soon fell in love. While they were dating, she gave birth to her first child, Marcel, and nine months after the birth of the child, the couple was married in a private ceremony at the small parish church in Oxnam on Tuesday, June 22, 1999. They have four children together: Marcel (first child), Cecily (second child), Jasmine (third child) and Iris (fourth child).

A few years after graduation, she submitted passport-sized photos of herself to Isabella Blow, a fashion magazine editor who was working with Plum Skyes at the time.
