Chris made history as the first blind contestant to take part in and win the BBC dance show.

Tonight he performed three exercises together with his professional partner Dianne Buswell.

Speaking after his win, a shocked Chris said: “It’s amazing. I don’t know what to say.

“I honestly thought I could get out in the first week or two, we just kept going and going.

He thanked his partner Dianne Buswell and said: “She’s positive, she’s faith and she’s honestly one of the easiest people to be funny with.

“She really deserves this. Honestly, she’s one of the easiest people to be funny with and unless she changes her number, she’s stuck with me.

When he won the glitter ball, he said: “This is for her (Dianne) and for everyone who thought and told them they couldn’t do something.

“It just goes to show that with opportunity, support and determination, anything can happen.”

Strict judges Shirley Ballas and Motsi burst into tears after Chris McCausland’s moving show dance

“Chris says this is for me, but it’s not for me – this is for me and you, Chris. We did this together.

“This is for both of us, not just me, we worked together and we succeeded.”

After months of dancing, Chris was praised for his performances – which included the couple’s favorite dance, their final show dance and the performance the judges enjoyed the most.

He received his first perfect score of 40 points for Gerry and the Pacemakers’ You’ll Never Walk Alone waltz score, his final dance of the series.

Dianne, Chris and the judges were in tears after the incredible performance.

Chris’ second routine featured different dance styles to New Radicals’ You Get What You Give, and he also recreated his viral “blackout moment” for the first dance.

In the selection routine of the couple to Instant Karma! (We All Shine On) by John Lennon, Chris put his hands over Dianne’s eyes as the room faded to black, before the ballroom went completely dark and then the lights came back on – with pyrotechnics flashing in the background.

Ahead of the final, Chris admitted: “I feel like we’ve never stayed in the competition above anyone who got more points than us, so it feels like we’ve exceeded expectations and got here on our own merits, so we’ve done above and beyond what we expected from ourselves.”

Looking back on his journey, the comic described it as “amazing, surprising and emotional” and believes he learned a lot about himself.

“The fact that we were able to do it, the fact that we were able to pull this off, the fact that we were able to learn the dances and put on a show… It’s all surprising,” he added.

The finale saw professional dancers join singer-songwriter Raya for a special performance, while the cast of 2024 returned to the dance floor for the final dance.

The episode was full of tears and emotions from the judges, stars and those watching at home.

Motsi Mabuse started crying after the first dance and continued to cry for most of the episode, as did Shirley Ballas.

Celebrities and their professional partners were left in tears after the final dances.

Those watching at home were quick to comment online, with one person writing: “This is the most emotional Strictly final I’ve ever seen.”

Another wrote: “This is the best and most emotional finale I’ve ever seen and I’ve seen them all.”

And a third added: “I don’t think we’ve ever had so many emotional moments on #Strictly before. This was a truly stellar series.”
