Some fans claim that he ‘checked out’ after leaving the competition with Nikita Kanda
Gorka made an early exit from the series after he and celebrity partner, BBC radio star Nikita Kanda, became the second couple to be eliminated.
Despite three dances in the show, Nikita and Gorka failed to impress the watchful eyes of the jury and went home.
Now fans of the popular show have suggested that Gorka has ‘opted out’ of the competition.
One fan even claimed that the ‘exit’ was expected over the past few issues, writing, “As much as I hate to say it, Gorka has looked mentally on his way out for a few series.”
Another fan was quick to agree, commenting: “Yeah, I thought the same thing. She really should have given him a decent dancer in this series.”
The third repeated: “I think Gorka will leave this season or next.
“Now there are 2 kids at home as well as the dogs and Gemma, I know I would feel terrible leaving 2 little ones and my partner at home for weeks on end.”
While a fourth speculated: “I felt like they gave him Nikita on purpose this year so he could have a bit of paternity leave.
“It was as if they knew that they would leave early so that Gorka could spend most of the week at home.”
Gorka became a father of two earlier this year when his partner, former Strictly contestant Gemma Atkinson, welcomed the couple’s second child together.
Gemma (38) and the Strictly Come Dancing professional (33) already have a daughter Mia (3) together.
The pressures of Strictly’s busy schedule meant he wasn’t able to spend much time with his newborn son and fiancé, and Gemma admitted she hadn’t seen Gorka for a month.
The Spanish professional has been a member of the show for the past eight years.
