Sherlock actress Amanda, 49, was absent from this weekend’s shows due to undisclosed health reasons.

He was expected to return on Saturday night for the BBC’s Halloween special.

However, the 49-year-old has now quit the competition – leaving viewers and her co-stars devastated.

Amanda has not yet commented on leaving the show.

The reason for Amanda’s sudden departure was expected to be revealed in the Strictly spin-off show, but viewers are still unclear as to the real reason.

Reading an official statement, Fleur said: “Amanda Abbington is unable to continue on Strictly and has decided to withdraw from the competition.

– Show wishes her all the best in the future.

A short clip of Amanda’s best bits was then shown, with Fleur adding: “Amanda, we send you all our love.”

The Sun reported last month that Amanda and her Italian dance partner Giovanni, 33, had fallen out — with the actress threatening to quit over the dance pro’s “militant” attitude to training.

But friends say she is supported by Giovanni, who was devastated by the shock exit.

A source told The Sun: “It’s been a tough few weeks for Amanda which have taken their toll physically and mentally.

“Amanda and Gio had fantastic chemistry on screen and there were high hopes that they could go all the way.

“Everyone is incredibly sad, but I just wish Amanda the best.”
