But actor and West End star Layton faced a tough time from critics ahead of the end of the competition for his dancing experience.
Taking to social media, he admitted: “There were a lot of tears today. I can’t believe it will all be over in 2 days.”
Recently, former Strictly pro James Jordan criticized Layton’s inclusion in the current series as “making a mockery” of the show.
He said HELLO! Magazine: “Is that what Strictly should be. Is that what Strictly has come to have fully trained dancers on the show? To me, that’s not what Strictly should be.”

Reacting to Layton and Nikita’s latest performance, he added: “It was so good, but what should everyone else do? As for me, I’d say to anyone thinking about doing Strictly, don’t do Strictly unless you’re a trained dancer. “
But this week Layton was defended by another ex-pro, Robin Windsor, and he had his own take on the cruel comments.
After Robin labeled the reaction “abuse,” Layton responded, “Thanks Robin. Luckily I have a thick skin, but it’s so draining that the so-called “die-hard fans” do their best to drag me down to lift others up.
“Their favorite couples would be VERY embarrassed by their comments and so should they. They will never dim my shine. Much love x.”
It was previously claimed that some of his colleagues were “frustrated” at having to compete alongside the star due to his background.
