Subha Venkatesan is an Indian athlete who competes in the 4x400m relay and 400m sprint categories. Suba competed in the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. At the 2022 Asian Games, Subba won a silver medal in the 4x400m mixed relay along with teammates Vithya Ramraj, Muhammad Ajmal Variyathodi and Rajesh Ramesh. She also won a silver medal in the 4x400m relay at the 2022 Asian Games.

Subha Venkatesan was born on Tuesday, August 31, 1999 in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu (age 24; as of 2023). Subha studied at Boiler Works Secondary School, Tiruchirappalli, Tirulampur. Subha joined Bentinck High School in Chennai after being selected in the Center of Excellence (CoE) for girls at Nehru Indoor Stadium, Chennai. The CoE is managed by the Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority.

Subha Venkatesan’s father’s name is Venkatesan. He is a construction worker. Subha’s mother’s name is Poongodi and she is a housewife. Suba’s mother encouraged her to follow sports from an early age. Suba has two siblings, a sister and a brother.
Profession
Subha Venkatesan started playing sports when he was in school. Subha got her first pair of running shoes in seventh grade, but she started winning races long before that. After Suba joined the Center of Excellence for Girls in Chennai, she went home once a year during vacation and spent the rest of her time training and attending school. When Subha was in school, her brother-in-law often helped her buy sports equipment. Subha has been training under coach Indira Suresh since 2012 while in CoE. In 2016, Subha was selected for the Senior National Training Camp (at the Sports Authority of India – Netaji Subhash National Sports Academy, Patiala) in Patiala, Punjab. During the training camp, she trained under coach Galina Bukharina. Speaking about her coach, Suba said:
We did a lot of running training, weightlifting and strength track training while running uphill with 25kg barbells. We do a few sets of runs. We train in the morning and at night. “
Subha Venkatesan, Revathi V, Dhanlakshmi Sekhar, Sarthak Bhambri and Alex Antony have qualified for Tokyo 2020 in the 4x400m mixed relay category.
Suba said in an interview,
After watching the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, my interest in participating in the Olympics increased a lot. From that point on, my goal was to be an Olympian, and I always wanted to be an Olympian. Representing the country on this platform is an experience in itself, and the Olympics are the pinnacle of sport… When the Olympic trials came around, I was determined to give it my all. This is what I want to achieve, I want to be there and this is my opportunity. “
The relay team finished 15th in the second round. In 2023, Subha Venkatesan and her mixed relay team (Subha Venkatesan, Rajesh Ramesh, Aishwarya Mishra and Amoj Jacob) won the gold medal in the 4x400m relay at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.
