In 2023, there were reports that someone had banned her original Instagram account. She contacted a hacker, thinking he was an official representative of Instagram, and asked him to unblock her account. She had no idea he had nothing to do with Instagram. The hacker agreed to unlock her account if she paid 25,000 rupees. She managed to get the money together and the account was unlocked. However, a few months later, her account was banned again. She contacted the same hacker, who told her that her account had been banned by international officials for posting inappropriate content. He said he would charge $250 to $400 to unlock her account. Sahu didn’t have that kind of money, so the hacker made a demand. He asked her to send him explicit photos and videos of herself in exchange for unlocking her account. Later, her allegedly explicit photos and videos went viral on the internet. Her father also found out about the viral photos and videos and confronted Sahu. She claimed the media files were generated by artificial intelligence (AI) and not her own. Her father was outraged and went to the local police station to file a complaint against the person who posted the content. Initially, Sahu’s friends were blamed and the police decided to take action against him. However, when Sahu’s father angrily spoke to her friend, he denied any involvement and provided screenshots of his chats with Sahu as evidence. Further investigation revealed that the friend was telling the truth. Some media reports claimed that Sahu was frustrated by the situation and attempted suicide and was hospitalized in Odisha. Another theory doing the rounds in the media is that Sahu’s boyfriend leaked private videos and photos she sent to him during private chats. Eventually, the local police opened a case against the person who leaked the photos and videos under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act and the Information Technology Act.
