Subodh Kant Sahay is an Indian politician who represented Ranchi constituency in Jharkhand state and served as a member of Parliament for three terms. As a member of the Indian National Congress, he held important positions including Cabinet Minister of Tourism until October 28, 2012.

In July 1978, Subodh Kant Sahai was appointed Speaker of the Bihar Legislative Assembly and served until October 1989. At the same time, he was also appointed for a four-year term as Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, which serves a two-year term as Chairman, and as Vice-Chairman of the Library Committee for a four-year term.
Following this, Bihar Janta Party chief Satyendra Narayan Sinha asked him to contest the state legislative assembly elections as a candidate from Ranchi Hatiya. He agreed and won. In 1989, he became a member of the 9th Lok Sabha from Ranchi constituency. He subsequently served as Chairman of the Petitions Committee of the Bihar Legislative Assembly for three years.
Subodh Kant Sahay served as a Union Minister in the Government of India from April 1990 to November 1990. He later served as the Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting from November 1990 to June 1991. Thereafter, he was appointed Secretary of the International Chamber of Commerce in India in 2017. Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand for a period of two years.
He served as a Member of Parliament in the 14th Lok Sabha and was appointed Union Minister of State for Food Processing Industries in the first Manmohan Singh Cabinet from 2004 to 2009. Subsequently, he was re-elected to the 15th Lok Sabha as a member of Ranchi constituency in 2009.
Subodh Kant Sahay served as the Union Tourism Minister from 2011 to October 2012.

In 2011, he caused controversy when he was photographed attending a fashion show when Mumbai was hit by multiple bomb blasts. The Congress party did not comment on the matter and stayed away from the controversy.

In 2012, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh asked Sahai to resign from the government over allegations that Sahai aided his brother in the coal scam.
Comparing PM Modi to Hitler
In 2022, at a Congress event in Delhi, Subodh Kant Sahai compared Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Hitler, claiming that Modi surpassed Hitler’s actions and created a Similar organizations to “Khakee”. Sahai warned Modi to remember this warning and that if he follows Hitler’s path, he will face a similar fate.
