Profession
She received nine years of professional training at Mohiniyattam, which gave her the opportunity to play the role of Goddess Durga in the Malayalam serial Krishna Kripa Sagaram aired on Amrita TV. She was in sixth standard when she started acting in serials. She later played mythological characters in various shows, which almost created a stereotype for her.
She took a brave decision and chose a negative role in the TV series Kalyanasaugandhikam. She begins to be viewed by the audience as a beautiful vampire. She said in an interview,
I really wanted to do something different. So I turned my attention to family drama. Durga represents strength and my experience also helps me. Therefore, playing the role of vamp has never been a difficult task. “
Thereafter, she grabbed the opportunity to play the villain Padmini aka Pappi in Vanambadi and became one of the most curvy ‘Villathi’ or vampires on screen. She said in an interview,
I’m so lucky to have so much love for my character. They hated Padmini for torturing Anu, but they showered so much love on me. Shortly after the scene ended, we started pulling each other’s legs,”
However, it wasn’t so easy for her to transition from the serenity of a goddess to the ferocity of a vamp. In an interview, she revealed the struggle behind the dramatic change in mood, saying:
While playing the role of a goddess, there is not much else to do. Appearance matters. When I started acting in Vanambadi, I shot 25 scenes initially. For the first two or three legs, I was having a Devi hangover. Rough appearance. When he asked me to watch him, the director said: “Here comes the Goddess, now I will slowly change it.”
At the end of the series, she confirmed that she would be taking a break from acting to focus on dance classes. She said in an interview,
I’m not planning on committing to any series anytime soon. Due to my busy shooting schedule, I had to take time off from dancing. So, now my priority is dancing. My teacher eagerly awaits the end of the series,”
Even after Vannanbadi went off air, Suthitra’s Padmini remained popular among fans.
She won the beauty pageant held at Metro Manorama in 2018.
