Sudhir Mishra is an Indian theater artist, film director and screenwriter. He is known for directing the Hindi films Dharavi (1992), Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi (2003) and Chameli (2004). He won National Awards for the Hindi films Main Zinda Hoon (1988) and Dharavi (1992).

Facts/Trivia
- As a child, he often accompanied his father to watch movies and plays, and he became interested in Hindi films.
- After acting in a few plays in college, he realized his interest was not in acting but in film directing.
- In an interview, he shared about his Bollywood debut. He said,
My friend Vinod Dua was interviewing Vidhu Vinod Chopra for Doordarshan and asked me to ask Vinod about my knowledge about the film. Vinod saw my knowledge of cinema and invited me to come to Mumbai. He was making his first movie at the time, and I asked him, “What would I do?” “Learn to thrive,” he said. I went to Mumbai and met a bunch of liberals, Kundan Shah, Ketan Mehta, Javed Akhtar and Shekhar Kapur, who became my family. Kundan would come to my house where he started working on Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro and I started co-writing the script with him. “
- He once revealed that after the death of his wife, he was very depressed and even contemplated suicide.
- After working in theater under the tutelage of Indian theater artist Badal Sircar, Sudhir moved to Pune from Delhi. In Pune, his brother is a student at Film and Television Institute of India. Sudhir then started taking acting and film lessons from his brother.
- In 2014, he was fined by Chandigarh police for smoking in public places.
- In 2020, during the COVID-19 lockdown in India, a video went viral on social media in which several policemen were seen beating up a man (who looked like Sudhir Mishra) for violating quarantine norms. For this, netizens harshly abused Sudhir. However, Sudhir later clarified that the man in the video was not him. He tweeted,
It’s funny to me that people think I’m going to get hit without any reaction. Every tall white-haired man is not me. What struck me was the joy of the troll brigade. How morbid! Whoever that coward got hit with like this, it wasn’t me, disgusting! Get a life! “
