It comes after he was ignored by the royal family due to his association with an alleged Chinese spy.

He is now expected to spend a lonely Christmas at Royal Lodge with his ex-wife Sarah.

Two of Queen Elizabeth II’s corgis were handed over to Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson after the monarch’s death in September 2022.

The couple also have five other dogs that require daily exercise – and Andrew now sends footmen to walk them because he’s had enough.

It comes after he was forced to return invitations to a Christmas lunch for the royal family because of his links to an alleged Chinese spy.

Onlookers said he appeared to have packed on the pounds when they saw him behind the wheel of his car this week.

It also emerged that the fallen prince’s many public scandals had led palace aides to nickname him the “Duke of Hazard”.

Andrew is now expected to spend a lonely Christmas at his Royal Lodge home with ex-wife Sarah, who has described herself as his “nurse”.

Next year looks completely unpredictable for the royal family – we’ll have to wait and see, experts say

An insider said: “He’s so down and demoralized that he hasn’t even been able to motivate himself to take the dogs for a walk.

“He used to do it regularly, but recently he can’t even bring himself to go out.”

Andrew, who was stripped of his royal titles by the late Queen in 2022 amid sexual assault allegations, had another 12 months of nightmare.

He was humiliated by two big-budget TV shows that dramatized his Newsnight interview about a car crash and links to his dead pal, billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

He also spent months fighting to prevent his brother Charles from being evicted from Royal Lodge, where he lives with Fergie.

The royal family was recently embarrassed after being linked to a so-called Chinese spy, who has since been banned from the UK on national security grounds.

The Royal Household is investigating claims that Andrew invited him to Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle and St James’s Palace.

MI5 is also said to be investigating allegations that Andrew received money from China.

Fergie is credited with convincing her ex not to attend Thursday’s family lunch at Buckingham Palace or the Christmas festivities at Sandringham.

She also shed light on her domestic arrangements with “sad” Andrew in the interview.

Fergie told how she “became Dad’s carer” when her sister Jane went to Australia.

She added: “I’m left to take care of a sad man, which is pretty much what I’m doing now.”

Sarah owns five Norfolk terriers, and the couple has dual custody of the corgis Muick and Sandy.

Andrew gave them to the late Queen to cheer her up during the quarantine due to Covid.

“The Dukes of Hazard”

Fergie often joined the Queen – who had more than 30 corgis and dorgies during her lifetime – on walks around Windsor Castle towards the end of her reign.

Meanwhile, Andrew faced further embarrassment last night when it emerged that he and Prince Harry are known as the “Dukes of Hazard” among palace courtiers.

It comes after an avalanche of negative publicity surrounding the couple.

Amazon and Netflix aired dramas this year about Andrew being accused of sexual assault by Virginia Giuffre, as well as the Newsnight interview he later gave protesting his innocence.

Andrew also adamantly refused the king’s offer to move to nearby Frogmore Cottage, while his older brother revoked his annual gift.

This week, as China’s spy crisis escalated, Andrew canceled an appearance with his family at a pre-Christmas lunch at the Palace on Thursday. He will also not be joining them at Sandringham on December 25.

Throwing barbs

It was also claimed last night that Prince Harry – the second “Duke of Hazard” – has had no contact with his father Charles or stepmother Queen Camilla.

Harry has repeatedly criticized the royal family since he and wife Meghan stepped down from royal duties and left for the US.

They include accusations of racism in an interview with Oprah Winfrey, as well as embarrassing revelations in Spara’s comprehensive memoir and the six-part Netflix Harry and Meghan documentary series.

But according to reports, the main reason for his father’s reluctance to make contact is Harry’s legal action against the Home Office over the withdrawal of his taxpayer-funded 24-hour armed security.

Harry challenges the decision of the Ravec, a committee that includes members of the royal household, and the king is reluctant to speak to his son until the case is over.

There are fears in royal circles that if the prince talks to his father about it and takes the conversation to court, there would be “serious legal jeopardy” and it could fail.

Charles only gave his son 30 minutes of his time when Harry flew to London after the king announced he had cancer earlier this year.

Harry was then refused a bed at Sandringham because aides feared he would “never get rid of him”.

Around 43 members of the royal family will gather at Sandringham for Christmas. The Yorks will not be staying, while Harry and Meghan are reportedly spending the holiday season in California.
