Summer House’s Paige DeSorbo Shares Details of Her Premiere Look — and What Craig Conover Really Thinks of Her Outfits

Paige DeSorbo went all out for the Season 8 premiere Summer house February 22 – and she was really into the aesthetics of mafia women.

It was the perfect trend for the New York event, and Giggly Squad The podcast host tells PEOPLE that she wanted her entire look to be “quintessentially New York.”

“I actually bought [the LaQuan Smith dress] as an option for BravoCon, but I never got the chance to wear it and I was saving it for this exact event,” shares DeSorbo, 31.

And it’s a good thing the dress worked – because the TV personality didn’t plan on a spare.

“I didn’t really have any other options,” she says of the look she chose for the evening, adding that sometimes she’ll plan ahead and give herself more looks to choose from, but sometimes things just fall together at the last minute and she goes with it.

After all, she admits, “If I don’t like my clothes, I go home.”

For glam, she enhanced her mobster wife aesthetic with the help of her glam team, who she calls “really the best.”

“I always show them my clothes and then we collaborate on inspiration and come up with what the overall vibe is going to be,” she says. “I like the vibe of the old money mobster woman so I thought half up, half down was super cute, and then I finished it off with pretty sultry makeup.”

DeSorbo, who caused a sensation at BravoCon with her head-turning fashion, tells PEOPLE that she loves getting ready for red carpets because of the excitement that comes with the glamor and preparation.

“I love getting ready for a fancy event like a red carpet,” she said. “The moments leading up to that are so fun for me because it really explains girlhood. Having my hair and makeup team in the room talking and hanging out doesn’t work at all. I’m so grateful to be able to turn my passion and dream into not only reality but also into a career.”

And she’s perfectly fine with people talking about what she’s wearing – whether they like it or hate it, because she loves what she’s wearing no matter what. As DeSorbo explains, fashion is sentimental to her and she ties tailoring choices to moments in time, and if she liked the clothes at a certain time, that’s good enough for her.

“Some pieces are very sentimental to me,” she says. “I love any conversation about fashion. Of course, there are some omissions in the archive, but for me, if I loved it at the time and it felt good, then I love that memory.”

As for her boyfriend and colleague Summer house star, Craig Conover, reflects on her fashion choices? He’s “biased” but pretty supportive of whatever she wants to wear – as he should.

“I love getting an honest man’s opinion on anything, including fashion,” he tells PEOPLE. “It’s so funny to see how they think. If Craig doesn’t understand an outfit, then I know I’ve got it ‘girly’. I’ll say he’s a bit biased and loves my fashion sense and loves how much I love him. He’s a big support for women in art and for that we are grateful to him.”
