Swara was born on April 9, 1988 and is a 35-year-old girl from Delhi (India). She completed her education at Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, New Delhi and received a degree in English Literature from Miranda House, University of Delhi. She also holds an MA in Sociology from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. During college, she was actively involved in social issues.

Swara started her acting career as a theater artist with NK Sharma Theater Company “Act One” in Delhi.
In 2008, she moved to Mumbai to pursue her career in Bollywood. After much hard work, she got the film “Niyati” directed by Pravesh Bhardwaj, but the film could not be completed.
Finally, she made her acting debut with the film Madholal Keep Walking (2009, English). In 2010, she signed her first Bollywood film Guzaarish. In 2011, she played the role of “Payal” in the movie “Tanu Weds Manu” and was highly appreciated by the audience.
Apart from films, she has also worked on the small screen and her first TV series was Samvidhaan: The Making of the Indian Constitution (2014), in which she served as the host.

In November 2019, she was criticized on social media for using abusive words such as “chu**ya” and “kam**na” towards a four-year-old child she was working with in an ad. She used vulgar language when talking about her early years in the film industry on the talk show Sons of Abish.
