European Cricket League

The European Cricket League (ECL) is a cricket league in which clubs from European countries compete in the Ten10 format. The league was founded in 2018 with the aim of promoting and growing cricket in Europe. Each participating club represents its country as a champion in the domestic tournament. The first edition of the tournament was held in 2019 at the La Manga club in Spain, and eight clubs participated.

VOC Rotterdam became champions, defeating SG Findorff by 101 runs in the final. The tournament garnered massive viewership, with live TV coverage and broadcast in more than 120 countries, reaching more than 140 million households through 40 different broadcasters. The ECL has had two editions so far, and the last one will take place in 2022 and will include 30 teams. Pak I Care Badalona won the title in that edition, following in the footsteps of VOC Rotterdam as the reigning champions.

European Cricket League Committee

Frank Leenders and Thomas Klooz, both ECL board members, previously worked together in the UEFA Champions League marketing team. They joined TEAM Marketing (Team Event and Media Marketing) in 1992 and played a significant role in the rebranding of the UEFA Champions League during its early years. Over time, Leenders became the managing director and member of the board of directors, while Klooz advanced to the position of executive director at TEAM Marketing and also served on the board of directors.

ECL’s Chief Executive Officer, Roger Feiner, has experience as the former Director of Broadcasting at FIFA from 1999 to 2002. Feiner’s experience and expertise in broadcasting has contributed to the development and success of ECL.
