Sarah Blanks hired Swifties to surprise her daughter Abby on her 13th birthday.
After strengthening the mother-daughter bond over their shared love of Taylor Swift, Sarah launched a public plea for help in hopes of making her birthday extra special after having a particularly tough year.
“She was going through the same things I was going through – heartbreak, friendships, friendship struggles, you know, it’s all reflected in her music,” Sarah said. WTVR before sharing how she ignited their mutual love for the Grammy-winning artist.

“I shared ‘Shake it Off,’ I think it was the first one with my daughter when it first came out in 2014. She was four,” she recalled. “And she would just dance and shake in her car seat and it’s just been a love story ever since.”
Now that Abby has entered her teenage years, she told the paper that she began to relate to the Anti-Hero singer’s lyrics as she matured.
“I just feel like as I get older, I can go back and listen to her music that she made when she was struggling with the same things that I’m struggling with now,” she stated.

Knowing how “difficult” it can be for teenagers her age, Sarah explained that her daughter’s “struggles of the past year” prompted her to reach out to strangers online. “All I wanted was to give her the best 13th birthday.”
The British mum expected to receive 20 cards, but was shocked when more than 250 arrived from all over the world.
“I didn’t think the cards were actually, like, real cards. And then I started opening some, and they were real cards from people all over the world. I was just totally shocked,” Abby said, adding that their fellow Swifties included is also trinkets like friendship bracelets and jars full of Swift verses.

“I just think it shows that you don’t really have to know someone to care about you,” she said.
Sarah added: “I’ve cried more than once thinking about it. I know personally I’ve struggled to find a supportive community and I know as a teenager it’s hard to find community. So I think it’s important to be able to show her what that looks like.”
