Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys' Kids: All About Their Blended Family

Swizz Beatz (born Kasseem Daoud Dean) and Alicia Keys have mastered the art of bringing their families together.

The “Empire State of Mind” producer and singer — who married in 2010 — have two children, Egypt Daoud and Genesis Ali, along with Beatz’s three children from previous relationships, Prince Nasir, Kasseem Jr. and Nicole.

“I feel like family is such a beautiful and diverse unit and — as we’ve all experienced — our families come in all different sizes, shapes and versions,” Keys explained in an appearance at the 2016 The Ellen DeGeneres Showwhere she promoted her song “Blended Family (What You Do For Love)”.

Over the years, Keys has been very vocal about various aspects of motherhood. “I think motherhood forces you to look at yourself in a mirror like no other you’ve been presented with before,” she told PEOPLE at American Express and Billboard’s 2019 Women in Music Impact Brunch in Los Angeles. “I think it makes you look at what you’ve picked up or learned from other people and how that becomes your truth, whether it’s your truth or not.”

As for fatherhood, Beatz admitted that it has its challenges. “That’s why you grow up really fast,” he told PEOPLE in 2011. “Because now you start making decisions based on how you want your kids to make decisions.”

Beatz and former partner Nicole Levy welcomed a son, Prince Nasir, on October 25, 2000. Prince, now 23, is following in his father’s footsteps, making music under the stage name Note Marcato. “So proud you made your own path my prince keep it up,” Beatz wrote on Instagram after one of Prince’s first shows in Los Angeles.

In 2020, Prince went viral after painting a skeleton’s face at the Grammy Awards hosted by Keys. Fans noticed him in the crowd, sitting next to his father and younger brothers. Skeleton makeup was part of his signature look as he rose to fame as an artist.

According to TMJPrince is also pursuing an acting career, having been cast in an upcoming film Charge it to play along with Snoop Dogg’s son Julian Broadus and Dr. Dre’s son Curtis Young. He will also be featured in his father’s upcoming unscripted TV show about car culture, DRIVEwhich Disney ordered in August 2022.

For his 22nd birthday in October 2022, Beatz posted a series of steamy photos of his son on Instagram. “Nothing is impossible in your mind and I love that drive you’ve always had,” he wrote in one post. “I love the way you face the biggest challenges and accept them with grace.”

Beatz had a son, Kasseem Jr. December 22, 2006 with ex-wife Mashonda Tifrere. Named after his father, Kasseem Jr. nicknamed KJ.

KJ is close to both his mother and stepmother, who have developed a strong co-parenting relationship. “I wanted to meet her because my son was telling me amazing things,” Tifrere told PEOPLE of her friendship with Keys, who wrote the lyrics for Tifrere’s 2018 book. The 17-year-old is a high school track and field star, winning the high jump at the Freshman-Sophomore Invitational as a freshman in April 2022.

Earlier that year, Beatz posted a video of KJ sheepishly admitting to running the fastest time in the 300m hurdles in his school’s history. “KJ is verrrrrryyyyyyyyy humble and I love him for it 🙏🏽,” Beatz captioned the video, which then showed all of KJ’s siblings cheering him on. “But I also let him know that it’s okay to celebrate your hard work and your wins.”

Beatz and singer Jahna Sebastian welcomed a daughter, Nicole, on May 22, 2008. Nicole regularly accompanies her father to events, such as the launch of his 2017 Bally x Swizz Beatz collection in London.

Now 16, Nicole spent time with her father in the recording studio and at Brooklyn Nets games in New York. She also accompanied her mom to London Fashion Week, where they attended the Ray Chu studio show in October 2022. Egypt Daoud, Beatz and Keys’ first child together, was born on October 14, 2010 in NYC

Egypt inherited the creative talents of both his parents — in a post for his 12th birthday in 2022, Beatz called his son a “creative mastermind.”

In 2016, when he was only 6 years old, Egypt wrote his first song called “Super-Boy”. Earlier that year, he was credited as a producer on Kendrick Lamar’s 2016 album. Untitled Unmastered. “We’ve always encouraged Egypt to make music that he feels, and as much fun as he has with it, he works very hard and always practices,” Beatz and Keys said. Outside of music, Egypt is developing its entrepreneurial skills. In 2019, then eight-year-old Egypt got actor Michael B. Jordan, actress Zoë Saldana and her husband Marco Perego to “invest” in a cardboard house he built while filming his mom’s “Show Me Love” music video. In total, he earned $440 from the stars.

“He’s the life of the party, he’s the one who kind of brings everyone together,” Keys told PEOPLE of Egypt’s outgoing personality in 2021. “He looks out for everyone, he’s that guy. And I love that about him.”

Genesis Ali was born on December 27, 2014. In her 2020 memoir, more of yourself, Keys revealed that her second pregnancy was a surprise. “The music I was making felt more important and more urgent than anything else,” she told PEOPLE in an exclusive excerpt from the book, noting that the pregnancy came at “the worst time ever.”

Now 9, Genesis is very adventurous, and his parents regularly post photos and videos of him trying new things like snowboarding and eating oysters. He’s also enjoying spending time with his mom: After joining her on stage at New York’s Apollo Theater in November 2021, he’s joining her Alicia + Keys World Tour in 2022. In a sweet Instagram post from the trip, Keys said she’s feeling “ I’m so blessed to have this one by my side on tour. I love you!!”

Genesis is also a fan of Taylor Swift, having first met the star at the 2019 iHeart Radio Music Awards when he was 4 years old. The two shared sweet chats while sitting next to each other at the show, and Keys even joked in her Innovator Award acceptance speech, “Actually, my son Genesis might be trying to take Taylor out later tonight.”

More than four years later, Genesis reunited with Swift at her Eras Tour performance in Los Angeles in August 2023. Keys shared several photos from the night on Instagram, including backstage shots with the singer and a video of her and Genesis dancing during the show . “Much love to @taylorswift for your big beautiful spirit that makes everyone feel loved,” she wrote alongside a series of photos and videos. “Genesis adores you.”

Keys also revealed that Swift gave Genesis a handwritten note after the show.
