SZA’s celebrity crush is surprisingly none of the rappers or lovers who have starred in her music videos.
On his new album Flanawhich was released on Friday, December 20, the singer, 35, revealed her crush on Martin Scorsese in the aptly titled “Scorsese Baby Daddy.”
In an unexpected tribute song to Scorsese, 82, SZA sings the lines: “I rolled up all my problems / And then I smoked about it / I could have called my mom / I’d rather eat about it / Addicted to the drama / Scorsese baby daddy.”
SZA also fantasizes about being in a scenario that sounds like a scene from one of Scorsese’s famous films, such as Good guys, Taxi driver, or The Wolf of Wall Street — though it doesn’t mention any specific characters or director titles.
She continues in the song, “I’d pretend to do my favorite man, he’d call me delicious / Raging lady, then I wonder if I could, baby / One day, I’ll figure out what it takes to be a lady.”

The Oscar-winning director, who has three daughters, married his fifth and current wife Helen Morris in 1999.
SZA’s caring song to Scorsese comes despite the singer generally being private when it comes to her love life.
In 2020, SZA confirmed that she had a brief romance with Drake back in 2009, after the rapper opened up about the pair dating in his song “Mr. Right Now”, published in the same year.
The “Snooze” singer has also previously talked about her ex-fiancé, whom she met after high school and with whom she was in a relationship for 11 years, in interviews and in her music.

In an interview with Rolling Stone released in October 2023, SZA said the couple split “five or six years ago” and that many of the songs on her 2022 album SOS were inspired by the relationship and the breakup, including the hit “Nobody Gets Me”.

In an interview with British Vogue in November, SZA claimed that her ex-fiancé had asked her to stop talking about him at fashion shows.
“I can’t even talk about my experience? I’m in jail!” she told the outlet. “Despite his hatred for me, I would still trust him with my life. He is one of the smartest people I know.”
