With soulful vocals accompanied by an intimate piano accompaniment, the R&B star belted out the song’s first verse before sliding into its famous chorus, sweetly singing, “You better get lost in the music / The moment you own it, you better never let it go / You only get one chance, don’t miss your chance to blow / This chance comes once in a lifetime.”

“Have you ever just covered Eminem on some soft s— for the feel?” SZA captioned the audio clip, adding the cover, “(Not on the Mental Health Only project🧘🏾‍♀️ ).”

Eminem released “Lose Yourself” more than two decades ago as part of the soundtrack to his semi-autobiographical film, 8 miles, in which he made his big screen debut. The single became the first rap artist Board #1 on the Hot 100 and won two Grammys for Best Rap Song and Best Male Rap Solo Performance in 2004. It also won an Academy Award in 2003 for Best Original Song.

SZA’s Eminem cover follows the hip-hop star’s May 31 single, “Houdini,” which appears on his upcoming album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce). The song’s music video arrived the same day, repeating comic book-style callbacks from “Without Me,” another 2002 hit from the hip-hop star.

Eminem Says Goodbye to Slim Shady: Go Back to the Madness of the Early 2000s

“I was wondering how far we can go with this magic? Like, can we do a stunt or something?” the rapper says, to which Blaine responds by downing a glass of wine before chewing on it.

Eminem then says, “Well, for my last trick, I’m going to make my career disappear,” before abruptly hanging up the phone.

Eminem pronounced Slim Shady Alter Ego dead in Detroit newspaper obituary ahead of new album

The stunt is the rapper’s latest in his theatrical album campaign, which has so far included a fake obituary for his alter ego, Slim Shady, as a nod to the upcoming project’s theme.

Obit, which appeared in Detroit Free Press earlier this month, he said: “Ultimately, the very things that looked like the tools he used became the calling cards that defined an existence that could have come to a sudden and horrific end. His complex and tortured existence was brought to an end, and the legacy that leaves behind is no closer to resolution than how this character left this world.”
