Tabassum was born in Mumbai in 1944. Her father, Ayodhyanath Sachdev, an Indian freedom fighter, and her mother, Asghari Begum, a freedom fighter and writer. Due to her mother’s religious beliefs, her father named her Tabasum, and due to her father’s religious beliefs, her mother named her Kiran Bala.

Tabassum was an Indian actress, talk show host and YouTuber who debuted as a young Baby Tabassum in 1947. She eventually pursued a career in television, serving as the host of Phool Khile Hain Gulshan Gulshan, the country’s first talk show. From 1972 to 1993, she was broadcast on the national channel Doordarshan, where she conducted interviews with actors and TV stars.

career

Tabassum made her screen debut as a young actress in the 1947 film Nargis, followed by Mera Suhaag, Manjhdhar and Bari Behen (1949).

She later played young Nargis in director Nitin Bose’s Deedar; she was also featured in the music video for the popular song Bachpan Ke Din Bhula Na Dena, performed by Lata Mangeshkar and Shamshad Begum.

After a break, she returned to acting in films, playing character roles for adults. Phool Khile Hain Gulshan Gulshan, the first talk show on Indian television, was hosted by Tabassum and aired for 21 years, from 1972 to 1993.

personal life

Vijay Govil, elder brother of television actor Arun Govil, was Tabassum’s husband. Their son Hoshang Govil had a brief acting career as the lead in three films, including Tum Par Hum Qurbaan (1985), which Tabassum produced and directed, and made his screen debut as a comic.
