Unfortunately, the two broke up in the early 2000s. Grigorieva began dating Mel Gibson in early 2007. However, the two had a tumultuous relationship that resulted in legal battles. Dalton was also involved, with reports claiming he abused his wife while they were together. Grigorieva’s lawyer, Daniel Horowitz, said the singer never claimed she was assaulted by the License to Kill actor. Likewise, he asserted that all these untrue claims were directed against Alexander. In addition, the musician told the tabloid that Dalton was a “wonderful father” and that they had a “great relationship.” She asserted that the actor is a private person and asked the public to respect his privacy.

As mentioned earlier, Grigorieva and Gibson had a tumultuous relationship. The musician got pregnant with his girlfriend almost two years after their relationship. They welcomed Lucia on October 30, 2009, and five months later, in April 2010, the couple divorced. Grigorieva issued a restraining order against the actor a month later, alleging that he assaulted her. Gibson admitted that he slapped the singer after she was accused of violently shaking Lucia. However, due to the ban, he could not visit his daughter. The actor’s fortune then began to deteriorate. Numerous tapes and e-mails have been leaked in which he can be heard verbally abusing Grigorieva and using derogatory insults.

This eventually resulted in a protracted court battle over child custody. Dalton stood by his former partner throughout the process. He warned Gibson to keep a safe distance from Alexander, claiming he didn’t want Gibson to get closer than ten feet to his son. According to The Mirror, Dalton was by his son’s side during Alexander’s questioning at the Department for Children and Families.
Gibson eventually offered Grigoriev approximately $15 million, but she turned it down. She dropped her abuse claims in May 2011 and was awarded $750,000 three months later. Additionally, she got a house in California where she will live with her daughter until she turns 18. Gibson and Grigorieva also agreed to share custody of Lucia.
