Tanishk Bagchi was born on Sunday, November 23, 1980 in Kolkata (age 39 years 2019). His zodiac sign is Sagittarius.
He was educated at Frank Anthony Public School and Scottish Church College School in Calcutta. He received his bachelor’s degree from Calcutta City College. When he was five or six years old, he learned to play the piano but gave up after five years. When he was 14 or 15 years old, he began to study music with his father.

He belongs to a Bengali Hindu family. His father Nand Kumar Das was a blues and jazz musician who worked as an arranger with veterans such as RD Burman, Salil Chowdhary and Satyajit Ray.
His mother Sarmistha Barman is a Punjabi guitarist and pianist. She is also a music teacher, teaching Western and classical music.
He has a sister. Tanishk is married to Genevieve Bagage de Mello, and the couple has two children.

Tanishk Bagchi started his musical career as a composer, as part of the musical duo “Tanishk-Vayu” with Vayu Srivastava Tanishk-Vayu). They composed music for TV shows like Dance India Dance and Thapki Pyar Ki.
He made his Bollywood debut with the song “Banno” from the film Tanu Weds Manu Returns (2015) with Vayu.
He made his debut as a solo composer with the song “Bolna” from the film Kapoor and Sons (2016).
He has composed many hit songs like Bolna, The Humma Song, Badri Ki Dulhania (title song), Tamma Tamma Again (remake), Baarish, Sweety Tera Drama, Rangtaari, Dholida, Dilbar, O Saki Saki, Hauli Hauli (remake) , and Anke Marais. He has also composed music for several music albums and singles such as Leja Re, Vaaste, Choodiyan, Nai Jaana and Yaad Piya Ki Aane Lagi. He made his Telugu debut in 2018 with “Adbhutam” in the film “Lover”.
He made his Malayalam debut in 2019 with the song “Psycho Saiyaan” from the film “Saaho”. He has also composed a Telugu version of the same song.

- In his spare time, he either enjoys singing or playing sports like football or cricket. He also enjoys traveling.
- There was a tradition in his family that everyone had to choose their own surname. Kanishk’s father’s surname was Das, and he took his grandfather’s surname “Baghchi” as his surname.
- After stopping piano lessons as a child, Kanishk became interested in singing. People liked his voice and started inviting him to gigs. He started making money by singing at shows and events.
- In his early teens, he released his first album, which was recorded in Bengali. He launched his album at a fair in Kolkata.
- Kanishke never took music seriously. Because he doesn’t think it’s a good career choice; because it might make it difficult for him to support his family financially.
- He has loved learning since he was a child and wanted to become a pilot.
- At the age of 12, he started composing songs in Hindi; because he liked it. He slowly began to sing and create melodies.
- His mother encouraged him to study music. Because she wanted him to be a musician. Eventually, at the age of 15, he figured it out and began taking music lessons from his father.
- According to Tanishk, his happiest childhood memory was the first time he sang for a radio channel. The song he sang was “Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love for You” by George Benson.

- Kanishk Bagchi and Vayu Shrivastava were discovered by Aanand L. Rai (director of Tanu Weds Manu Returns) who heard their single “Oopar Oopar” and he liked the song and invited him to compose one for his film song.
