Tanya Abrol is an Indian actress who gained popularity with her debut Bollywood film Chak De! India (2007), in which she played the role of Balbir Kaur.

She completed her graduation in Economics and Political Science from MCM DAV College for Women, Chandigarh in 2008. Tanya has been into sports since childhood and got admission to college through sports quota. During school and college, she was active in extracurricular activities. Tanya Abrol dated Aashish Verma for two years. The two met at a party. Therefore, their mutual friend suggested that they should date. Although they did not consider the suggestion at first, they soon became good friends. When Tanya told Ashish that someone asked her out on a date, Ashish confessed his feelings. When I told him I agreed to go on the date, he said nothing because he is an introvert. That’s when I asked him if he felt bad about me dating. Tanya Abrol made her acting debut with the Bollywood sports drama Chak De! India, where she plays the role of Balbir Kaur. The film revolves around former hockey player Kabir Khan, whose image was tarnished by religious bigotry after India lost to Pakistan in a hockey tournament. - In an interview, she called herself an “accidental actor” but revealed that she auditioned for Chak De! India was just for a day out of the dorms. However, she later realized that auditions were mandatory. she says,
The head of our sports department told us that all sports girls had to audition because it was a sports movie. I live in a girls’ dormitory, and the dormitory conditions are very strict. I just went to the Tagore Theater in Chandigarh for an audition so that we could “go out” in a hotel! Little did I know I would be shortlisted and summoned to tinsel town. “
- In 2018, she won the Box Cricket League (BCL) title with Lucknow Nawabs. BCL is an Indian sports reality show aired on MTV India. In the final, Lucknow Nawabs defeated two-time champions Delhi Dragons and Abrol was awarded the title of ‘Girl of the Match’.
