Peabo Bryson and His Wife
Peabo discussed his new album, his marriage to his young wife, and how they kept their romance alive in an exclusive conversation with I Love Old School Music. Tanya Boniface Bryson, who was in the popular British female band 411, is Peabo’s wife, who is part African and half European-British. The late Aretha Franklin was acknowledged by the artist for mentoring him through his path to discover genuine love.
He said that if it hadn’t been for Franklin, he would not have married, since she urged him to wait it out until he found the right person. Peabo heeded her counsel, and he eventually met Tanya, who nearly did not become his first wife. He was engaged to and almost married to Juanita Leonard, the ex-wife of boxing superstar Sugar Ray Leonard. He was 56 at the time, and she was 30 years younger. [It’s] my first and only [marriage], since my major goal has always been to do it just once. The musician said that he and his wife have the same musical interest, which helped them bond. He also said that friendship was a stable basis for any relationship and that elements such as attractiveness and appearance could not maintain a relationship.
Peabo emphasized that, in addition to friendship, it was equally necessary to keep the flame alive by being interesting and mysterious. The balladeer counseled individuals to abandon conventional husband-wife roles when it came to making a relationship work. He said he didn’t mind cooking or changing his son’s diapers.
Peabo Bryson Became a Father at the age of 67.
