Taylor Swift Compares Rerecorded Albums to ‘Horcruxes’ and ‘Infinity Stones,’ Teases Reputation (Taylor’s Version)

Taylor Swift gives fans a sneak peek at what ‘Reputation (Taylor’s Version)’ will sound like – one of her most anticipated covers

Taylor Swift fans know her for using “Easter eggs” as a way to tease upcoming projects and releases — and the singer isn’t exactly dismissing speculation that she has a big plan.

Swift, 33, opened up TIME for their 2023 Person of the Year issue about re-recording her previous albums—the first five of her career, which were sold to Scooter Braun in 2019 against her wishes—as she likened the process to several of Hollywood’s most famous mythical objects.

“I collect Horcruxes,” she said, comparing her reissues to magical items that wizards in the world of Harry Potter might use to fuel their own immortality.

Swift didn’t leave him in the Wizarding World though – she also compared him to the world the Avengers and Lord of the Rings.

“I’m collecting the infinity stones,” she said, referring to the mythical stones that threatened to derail the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe at Thanos’ hands. “Gandalf’s voice is in my head every time I play a new one. It’s a movie for me now.”

On the subject of re-recorded albums, the “Cruel Summer” singer also teased what’s next for one of her most anticipated re-releases, Reputation (Taylor’s Version).

“It’s a goth-punk moment of female rage at being set on fire by the entire social structure,” she described the album’s overall aesthetic and message.

She then teased that the vault songs from the record – which are the songs that didn’t make up the initial part of the album she releases on her overdubs – are “fire”.
