Taylor Swift Donates $1M to Tennessee Residents After Deadly Tornadoes

Taylor Swift helps those in need.

The Reputation the artist, 33, donated $1 million to the Tennessee Emergency Fund at the Middle Tennessee Community Foundation, USA Today reported on Monday.

This comes after devastating storms hit multiple districts in the area, leaving at least six dead, including two children. Nashville’s WZTV reported 13 tornadoes touched down in Tennessee on Saturday, citing the Storm Prediction Center.

Hal Cato, executive director of the community foundation, confirmed Swift’s contribution, Tennessean He said. Donations help residents affected by a natural disaster with financial assistance, food, temporary housing, debris cleanup and animal housing.

In addition to multiple deaths, CNN reported that more than 50 people were injured, buildings were structurally damaged and power outages affected residents in the area.

“This is devastating news and our hearts are broken for the families of those who lost loved ones,” Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts said in a statement shared on Facebook. “The city is ready to help them in their moments of grief.”

Swift also donated $1 million to the Middle Tennessee Emergency Fund in March 2020 after deadly tornadoes once again ravaged the state the Pennsylvania native calls home.

“Nashville is my home and the fact that so many people have lost their homes and so much more in Middle Tennessee is devastating to me,” the “Lover” singer said on her Instagram Story at the time.

She also included a link to a donation page for others interested in following her lead.

During a two-night stop to perform at Ford Field in Detroit in June, the “Blank Space” artist donated to the Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeast Michigan.

After sharing Swift’s message, “No matter what happens in life, be good to people,” the food bank added one of its own.

“These words ring true today with Taylor’s surprise donation to the Gleaners during her #TSTheErasTour stop in #Detroit,” the social media post continued. “Thank you for influencing and empowering children and families with nutritious food!”

“Taylor Swift’s support of food banks across the country comes at such a critical time for so many emergency food providers — when resources are tight and needs are growing,” said Gleaners spokeswoman Kristin Sokul. Detroit Free Press in that time.

Continuing to praise her “generosity,” Sokul added, “The space in her heart will empower households across Southeast Michigan to live happier, healthier lives and raise the important issue of food security so that others who have the ability to help can be inspired by her example. The entire Gleaners team is very grateful for this amazing gift.”
