Taylor Swift Drops Live and Remixed Versions of ‘Cruel Summer’: ‘We Can All Shriek It in the Comfort of Our Homes’

“[We] Gotta calm down!” Taylor Swift just gave fans two new versions of “Cruel Summer” to sing along to.

“What a truly amazing thing you’ve turned The Eras Tour Concert Film into. I’ve watched videos of you in theaters dancing and strutting and recreating choreography, making inside jokes, casting spells, getting engaged, and generally creating just the type of joyous chaos we’re after famous 😇,” Swift, 33, captioned the post on Instagram Wednesday night.

“One of my favorite things you’ve done is when you supported ‘Cruel Summer’ so much that I ended up opening The Eras Tour with it. For old time’s sake, I’m posting live audio from the tour so we can all scream it in the comfort of our homes and cars PLUS a brand new remix by @lpgiobbi 😜 Thank you so much, forever, wow, just thank you!!!”

“Cruel Summer” was featured on Swift’s 2019 album Lover and became her single longest-running #1 on Billboard for an eighth week on October 7.

She performed the song as part of her Eras Tour setlist, along with other favorites from the album including “The Archer”, “Lover” and “The Man”.

New versions of “Cruel Summer” are coming ahead of the release 1989 (Taylor’s version), her fourth re-recorded album, October 27. She revealed the names of four of the five additional songs after challenging fans to decode a string of words on Google – and ended up disrupting the site.

Google he posted a video to X (formerly known as Twitter), revealing four records. “Oh look, you did it. You’ve unlocked the 1989 vault (Taylor’s version) and now I’m so excited to share new vault clues with you,” the site announced.

In the video, the words slowly unfold to reveal the song titles: “Is It Over Now?” “Now That We Don’t Talk”, “Say Don’t Go” and “Suburban Legends”.

“Can’t wait for you to hear them,” the clip concludes.
