Taylor Swift Sings ‘You’re Losing Me’ for First Time in Moving Performance at Eras Tour in Melbourne, Australia

Taylor Swift debuted as a fan favorite Midnight watch live for the first time.

The pop superstar, 34, kicked off a three-date run of her Eras Tour at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne, Australia, on Friday and treated fans to a first-ever live performance of “You’re Losing Me,” a breakup ballad off the Late night edition her album Midnight.

As she sat at the piano in a flowing, bright yellow dress, according to footage captured by fans on social media, the Grammy winner revealed that one of her surprise songs on the set list would be a special one. “I’ve never played this song live before. It’s one of my favorites,” Swift said, introducing “You’re Losing Me,” out in May 2023.

The “Cruel Summer” singer delivered a heartwarming performance of the down-tempo song, in which the narrator pleads with a romantic partner to realize that their relationship is no longer healthy — and to do something to save it.

Swift sounded particularly emotionally fierce during the bridge moments, singing lines like, “And I wouldn’t marry myself either / A pathological people pleaser / Who just wanted you to see her / And I’m fadin’, thinkin’ / And I’m fadin’, thinkin’ ‘ / ‘Do something baby, say something’ (Say something) / ‘Lose something baby, risk something’ (You’re losing me) / ‘Choose something baby, I’ve got nothing’ (I’ve got nothing) / ‘To be believed, unless you don’t choose me.'”

“You’re Losing Me” was one of two surprise songs Swift performed during Friday’s concert. She also played the title track from 2012 Redwhich she previously played on the Eras Tour on May 21 in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

According to videos taken by fans, the hitmaker introduced Midnight deep cut right after announcing that fans can expect a special version of her upcoming album Department for tortured poets with a bonus track called “The Bolter”.

While unveiling the alternate cover art for her upcoming album, due out April 19, and teasing “The Bolter,” Swift said, “Tortured poets is the album I think I should have made more than any of my albums I’ve ever made.”

The Folklore the artist continued, “That was really the lifeline for me — just the things that I was going through, the things that I was writing about, kind of reminded me why songwriting actually drives me through my life. I’ve never had an album that I needed more songwriting than on this one Tortured poets.”

During the concert, Swift also expressed how grateful she was to have her biggest show to date, bringing 96,000 fans to a sold-out show at the Cricket Ground in Melbourne.

“This is the biggest concert we’ve done on this tour or any tour I’ve ever done,” Swift told the crowd in the clip divided by X (formerly known as Twitter). “That’s the version you have of me tonight, the version that’s totally in awe of the fact that so many of you wanted to hang out with us on Friday night in Melbourne.”

In February, Swift continued her Eras Tour, which began with four shows at Japan’s Tokyo Dome.

After the final show in Tokyo on February 10, the superstar returned to the US to watch her boyfriend Travis Kelce at the Kansas City Chiefs game in the 2024 Super Bowl, and then continued her live performances on February 16. The tour is Australia and the Asian leg will continue until the beginning of March. Later in the spring, she will present Europe.
