Taylor Swift Won't Appear in Deadpool & Wolverine After All

Marvel fans and Swifties will have to shake their heads: Taylor Swift has no part in the upcoming film Deadpool & Wolverine.

Rumors of Swift’s potential involvement in the next Marvel Cinematic Universe installment (in theaters July 26) have been swirling since way back in 2015. But the new film starring Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine reportedly does not include Swift Entertainment Weekly.

The news comes after IMAX debuted the film’s poster featuring the two titular heroes wearing the friendship bracelets that have become synonymous with Swift’s Eras Tour.

The Midnight The Grammy winner, 34, was first speculated to be making her MCU debut when she appeared in a photo with friend Sophie Turner and her X-Men: Apocalypse actor James McAvoy. Then Turner, 28, gave a nod to Swift’s discography when he posted a still from the film on Instagram in 2016.

Deadpool & Wolverine director and co-writer Shawn Levy, 55, has also been spotted hanging out with Swift and their friends Jackman, 55, Reynolds, 47, and his wife Blake Lively, 36.

Levy was naturally asked about the “Fortnight” singer’s potential appearance as Dazzler in the superhero franchise. Speaking to The Wrap in October, the director opted for “no comment,” adding, “I’m not stupid… You’ll have to wait and see.”

In a 2022 interview with PEOPLE, before Deadpool & Wolverine even started filming, Reynolds denied the rumors. But then, in an interview with Fandango, the star producer said that “outright dishonesty is not involved.”

He added at the time, “Films like this, there’s so much speculation about so many people who might end up in the movie. I saw one who was convinced Elvis was in the movie… Anything can happen and that’s something I love about this universe Surprises are the essence of Deadpool.”

Deadpool & Wolverine is in theaters on July 26. Actors confirmed to appear in it include Emma Corrin and Matthew Macfadyen, along with returning cast members Moreno Baccarin, Leslie Uggams, Brianna Hildebrand, Shioli Kutsuna, Rob Delaney and Lewis Tan.
