Teddi Mellencamp Announces Divorce from Edwin Arroyave: 'My Priority Is My Children'

Teddi Mellencamp is divorcing Edwin Arroyave after 13 years of marriage.

In a message posted on Instagram on Saturday, November 2, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills the alum stated that her children are her main priority in this transitional period.

“After much care and consideration, I have made the difficult decision to file for divorce,” the 43-year-old reality star wrote in her statement. “My priority is my children and ensuring their privacy and well-being during this new chapter.”

“Coming out publicly is not something I wanted to do,” she continued, “but in an effort to protect my family from unnecessary speculation and rumors, I felt that being open, honest and vulnerable was the best way forward.

Less than 24 hours before her announcement, Mellencamp appeared at her live taping Two T’s in a capsule podcast with co-host Tamra Judge in Burbank, California. In the video, she can be seen interacting with fans before and after filming, and she has not talked about her private life at all. Tamra’s husband Eddie Judge was in attendance, but Arroyave, 47, was not.

Mellencamp — who is the daughter of singer John Mellencamp — previously shared that Arroyave didn’t believe in marriage when they first met.

“He came home and he had tears in his eyes, and I’ve never seen him cry before,” Mellencamp said in a 2019 interview with Yahoo Lifestyle.

“And he just put a blank check on the nightstand, and he said, ‘Hey, I just wanted to tell you that I love you and I went out to buy a ring today. I’m sorry. I just don’t believe in marriage and I don’t want you to break up with by me.’ ”

“I felt like the life had just been sucked out of me,” she recalled.

Arroyave, who is the founder and CEO of Skyline Security, eventually changed his mind, eventually asking her to marry him the following day on Christmas Eve.

“Your mind is playing tricks on you and at the end of the day I knew this was the girl I wanted to spend the rest of my life with,” Arroyave said in the same interview with Yahoo.

Mellencamp and Arroyave married in 2011 and have daughters Slate, 12, and Dove, 4, as well as son Cruz, 10. She is also stepmother to Arroyave’s daughter Isabelle, 15.

Arroyave has yet to publicly comment on the split.
