Teddi Mellencamp Says Her Melanoma Is Gone After Surgery, Vows to Be ‘Diligent’ With Her Skin Checkups

Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave is finally clear of skin cancer.

On Friday, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills The alum posted a photo on Instagram showing off her large scar after surgery to remove melanoma on her back. The 42-year-old – who shared that she was diagnosed with melanoma 13 in September – gave her followers an update on her health, revealing that her final report is good.

“I got the final report from my oncologist,” she wrote before sharing the message she received. “‘The final report is quite good. Some atypical areas, but no melanoma. We will have to keep a close eye on you, but everything is fine now. I want to see you in about 3 months. Before if you have any doubts.’”

“I am forever grateful to my amazing doctors, nurses, family and friends,” she said. “I will absolutely be diligent at my quarterly check-ups. Be the same with skin exams. And, yes, I had to google what atypical means. I don’t know why doctors have to use such big words 🤪#skincancerawareness #melanomaawareness #curemelanoma #getnaked.”

In the comments section, friends of Mellencamp sent kind messages to the reality star following her medical condition, including The Real Housewives of Atlantais Drew Sidora and The Real Housewives of Orange County starring Gina Kirschenheiter, Emily Simpson and Jeana Keough.

The Real Housewives of New Jersey star Dolores Catania also wrote: “God bless you bear ❤️ so happy to hear the good news.”

Last month, Mellencamp shared a photo of herself in the hospital on Instagram, stating that her surgery “went well,” before explaining the procedure to her followers.

“Specifically, I went through ‘wide excision melanoma, soft tissue defect reconstruction with adjacent tissue rearrangement.’ They basically cut out my shoulder area and replaced it with a flap of skin from the bottom of my back (swipe to see the pre-op area). But the pain and discomfort is worth it,” she explained.

She then thanked her followers and friends for their support through her latest experience with the disease.

“The outpouring of love and prayers in the comments and DMs has left me speechless (which is hard). I wish I could respond to everyone, but please know that I am forever grateful,” Mellencamp wrote to Arroyave.

“Please get your skin checked. I promise you don’t want to go through this. #skincancerawareness #melanomaawareness,” she concluded the post.

Mellencamp Arroyave had 12 previous cases of melanoma, having first been diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma in October 2022.

In December of that year, she spoke to PEOPLE about how her illness prompted her to speak out and warn others to be careful when dealing with new skin spots and to follow up with their doctor.

“Skin checks are essential,” the star said at the time. “We’ve seen how quickly it can go from one melanoma to 12. So when your doctor says, ‘See you in three months,’ that’s three months.”
