New Telangana Medical Colleges: According to the official press release, the Telangana government has issued a directive to establish eight new government medical colleges in the state. With this decision, Telangana will become the only state in the country with a government medical college in every county.

In the coming school year, medical colleges will be established in Jogulamba Gadwal, Narayanpet, Mulugu, Warangal, Medak, Yadadri Bhongiri, Rangareddy and Medchal Malkajgiri districts. These universities will offer 100 MBBS seats each.

Telangana government will provide 4590 MBBS seats in 33 districts

The recent establishment of new government medical colleges has resulted in a significant increase in the number of MBBS seats available in government institutions. When the state was created in 2014, there were only 850 places in the state’s colleges.

Over the past eight years, the total number of MBBS seats has grown to 3,790. A press release said the addition of eight newly approved medical colleges would contribute an additional 800 seats, resulting in a total of 4,590 seats in all 33 counties of state-run medical colleges. .

Telangana Student Reservations: 900 MBBS seats allotted within the state

Recently, the Telangana government has introduced significant changes in its reservation policy for MBBS enrollment in government medical colleges in the state. Health Minister Harish Rao Thanneeru has announced that out of a total of 2118 MBBS seats available at government medical colleges across India for the 2023-24 academic year, 900 prominent seats have been allocated separately. for Telangana.

According to the Telangana State Government’s amendment to the Telangana State Medical Colleges Admissions Rules, all seats in medical colleges established after June 2, 2014 will be fully reserved. for Telangana students.

Previously, 85% of seats were reserved for local students, while the remaining 15% were for competition from students from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. However, the revised rule now offers more opportunities for Telangana students.
