Terry Crews Saw Being Put ‘on Blast’ by Trevor Noah at Grammys with Taylor Swift Joke as an ‘Honor’ (Exclusive)

Terry Crews had no problem with that Trevor Noah joke at the 2024 Grammys.

On Sunday, Grammy cameras focused on former football player Crews, 55, after host Noah, 39, joked about the attention Travis Kelce’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift, 34, gets at NFL games.

Noah said at the ceremony, “I’m going to get my revenge. Every time someone says Taylor Swift. I’m going to cut the cameras to someone playing football,” before moving on to Crews.

Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE at the Formula 1 Team x Visa Cash App RB party in Las Vegas on Thursday, Crews says that despite his initial surprise, he didn’t mind being “turned on” by Noah at all.

“Trust me, it was the shock of my life. First of all, you don’t want to mess up. I don’t want to spill a drink on Beyoncé… I’m like don’t step on Babyface’s toes, please!” says the actor about arriving at the Grammys on Sunday.

“All I want is to just enjoy the show and not mess up. Then Trevor blew me up in front of billions of people, but it was an honor,” he adds while speaking at an event in Las Vegas.

Crews and Swift left the joke at that and didn’t talk about it afterward.

“Not at all,” Crews tells PEOPLE about whether he’s spoken to Swift. “I left it alone.”

Crews was a big fan of Noah hosting the Grammys and thinks we might even see him host the Oscars in the near future.

“Trevor didn’t offend anyone, he was the perfect host. I see him hosting the Oscars soon. I think that’s the next step for him because he’s killing it hosting the Grammys,” Crews says. “He’s amazing!”

The Brooklyn Nine-Nine star praised performances by musicians including Tracy Chapman, Billy Joel and Annie Lennox at the ceremony.

“It was crazy! Probably the best show I’ve been to in 10 years,” he says.

Swift was among the latecomers to Sunday’s Grammys. Noah asked the crowd, “Do you see what’s happening right now as Taylor Swift moves across the room?”

“The local economy at those tables is improving. See you getting this magic now? Look at this magic. Lionel Richie, now Lionel Wealthy. Look at it,” he joked.
