Thanos was no match for Kaza, and the powerless Marvel hero defeated him in such a humiliating manner that the story was later retold.exist Kazar #11, the Mad Titan faces off against the protector of the Savage Land, and the two brawl atop a bubbling volcano. Thanos seemed convinced he would win the battle, but ended up being kicked into lava by Kha-Zar, which burned his armor away.
Ka-Zar may not be a household name to non-comic readers, but he’s been an important part of Marvel history for over 50 years.Ka-Zar was created by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee and debuted in X-Men #11 as “King of the Jungle”. He’s essentially the Tarzan of the Marvel Universe. Qajar lives in the Savage Land, a tropical land hidden in Antarctica where prehistoric life, including dinosaurs, still exists. He originally tangoed with the X-Men in some of their earliest adventures. Khazar and the Savage Land still appear in Marvel comics to this day.
exist Qajar#Mark Waid, Andy Kubert, Joe Rosas, Digital Chameleon, Jesse Delperdang and Todd In “11” (1997) by Todd Klein, Khazar’s brother Parnival teams up with Thanos to use the same alien terraformer to turn the wilderness of New York into a prehistoric areas. The plan was a success and the concrete jungle became a veritable jungle. Thanos didn’t stop there, he turned the home planet of the Kree, Inhumans, and Shi’ar into a jungle. Khazar and Thanos battle in space to capture portals to different terraformed planets. The battle eventually takes them to the Savage Land, where they battle a volcano. Thanos grabbed Ka’za as he used his powers to break free and kick the Mad Titan into the lava below.
The kick did not kill Thanos, who then emerged from the lava naked. Thanos sets the Savage Land on fire, and SHIELD agents detonate a bomb on a terraforming machine. With Thanos being transported away, everything returns to normal with the explosion. Interestingly, the story was later retold and the version Thanos Khazar faced was actually one of his Thanos clones. According to CBR.com, Jim Starlin did a re-scout to make the Mad Titan look unbeatable in battle, as nearly five years of Thanos’ story have been reworked.
Re-scouting might have Khazar facing Thanos who wasn’t actually Thanos (even though it would have been Thanos back then and never mentioned in the story), but failure would still be an incredible shame . A hero without superhuman abilities defeated Thanos and prevented the universe from being transformed forever. Beyond Squirrel Girl, Khazar might be the strangest choice to take on Thanos one-on-one and win in embarrassing fashion.
